Jerry Jones tells Dallas media to stay out when asked about Cowboys’ search for Odell Beckham Jr. as interest revives, a week after saying he was “not at all sure” to sign the Super Bowl LVI champion.
After all, Odell Beckham’s seemingly unsuccessful free agency tour may lead to a contract offer.
Days after the Dallas Cowboys signed veteran TY Hilton, apparently putting an end to any discussion of Beckham’s signing amid concerns about his surgically repaired knee, team owner Jerry Jones revived the rumor on Wednesday.
“I don’t want to talk about it, but wait,” Jones told the assembled media. This thing could break.
The Dallas Cowboys may not be completely out of the running for wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
“Great players make great plays,” Jones said. The greats make exceptional plays. And so I hope we move forward here where a handful of great plays, if I may wave my arm about it, could make the difference in a world championship.’
Reporters wondered if there needed to be a timetable for the Cowboys to sign OBJ in order to ingrain him within the team, but Jones seemed uncommitted to the timetable.
‘He’s at one level, but I don’t have an exact… quantifying way of saying when… but he’s working and… sooner rather than later, yes. Support.’

It was revealed on ESPN yesterday that some NFL executives believe Beckham will sit out the rest of the season to prepare to be the ‘prize’ of March free agency.
Jones has also cast doubt on his signing in time for this year’s playoffs, speaking on a radio show last week and saying: ‘I have no confidence at all. And so that’s the problem. Now, we all realize that the health issue, the availability issue, is here all the time.
‘You have a lot of history here and you can see well, not just the obvious and that’s his performance, but also any health related issues.
“So all of this we have to go in with our eyes wide open and it has to be addressed, and that’s when you can see if you can make a deal or not.”
