Jerry Jones issues major update on Dak Prescott after Cowboys star’s hamstring injury

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that quarterback Dak Prescott will likely be on injury reserve with a hamstring injury.

Prescott suffered the injury during the Cowboys’ 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported the injury on Monday. Early Tuesday, Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan with an update on Prescott’s status.

“It’s likely we’ll inform him,” Jones told the station.

The injury could sideline the veteran for at least four games.

Prescott underwent an MRI after suffering the injury in the second half against Atlanta.

Before Jones’ update, initial reports from the NFL Network suggested the results were worse than initially feared. Pelissero also noted that the team had yet to decide whether to place Prescott on injury reserve.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that the club was still evaluating Prescott’s injury.

“As the doctors and really once he finds out where he stands,” McCarthy said, “those are conversations that will probably happen here over the course of this week.”
