Jerome Boateng’s retrial on charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend begins on the opening day of this summer’s European Championship in Germany.
The former German defender, who won the World Cup in 2014, is due to appear in court in Munich on June 14, the same day Germany plays Scotland at the Allianz Arena.
That’s the first of six court dates now set for Boateng’s hearing, as reported by Image – with the verdict on July 19.
Ex-Manchester City and Bayern Munich player Boateng was found guilty of assaulting ex-girlfriend Sherin Senler, the mother of his twin daughters, in September 2021.
He avoided a five-year prison sentence and was instead fined £1.5 million after being found guilty of biting, spitting and punching Senler while on holiday in the Caribbean in 2018.

Boateng’s fine was reduced on appeal in October 2022, but then the Bavarian Supreme Court overturned the appeal court’s verdict at a new hearing in October last year.
Citing “far-reaching procedural errors”, the judge said the verdict “does not in any way withstand legal scrutiny” and ordered a new trial, which has now been set.
Boateng, who now plays for Italian club Salernitana, will see the case heard again on six dates in June and July.
Last month, Boateng’s mother accused him of “abusing women for years.”
After another of his former partners, Kasia Lenhardt, committed suicide in February 2021, Boateng’s mother sent a document to a Berlin lawyer making the allegations.
She wrote: ‘My son has abused women psychologically and physically for years, now Kasia Lenhardt has taken her own life and he still does not want to suffer the consequences of his behavior.’
The mirror revealed the message and also obtained voice messages from Lenhardt. The lawyer explained that Lenhardt wanted to charge Boateng with assault prior to her tragic death.

The fashion model, 25, was found unconscious in an apartment in Berlin on February 9, 2021, the day of her son’s sixth birthday.
She had been dating Boateng for 15 months before their relationship fell apart, leading to a very public feud via social media and the press.
A friend of Lenhardt’s previous told Ny Breaking in 2021: ‘She died a week after Jerome gave an interview in which he said their relationship was over. He said very nasty things about Kasia. She was very upset about it.”
Boateng has continued to deny the allegations made against him by Spiegel and the player’s lawyer responded in March, explaining: ‘Due to the ongoing proceedings, it is not currently possible for our client to answer your questions in detail.
‘So basically: they are simply largely uninformed; Furthermore, it seems that you only get selective information.’
