Jermaine Jenas is sacked by the BBC: Ex Premier League footballer who hosts The One Show and is a pundit on Match of the Day is axed from his £190,000 job with immediate effect for ‘inappropriate behaviour’
Jermaine Jenas has been fired by the BBC for inappropriate behaviour, the Mail reports.
The One Show presenter was sacked by Corporation bosses this week and appears to have been removed from agency MC Saatchi’s website.
BBC sources say he is stepping down from presenting the evening show with immediate effect.
One of them told the Mail: ‘It all came as a huge shock, but his colleagues have now heard the news and he is not coming back.
“His colleagues are stunned, they didn’t see it coming at all. They were kept in the dark from the start. They couldn’t believe it when they found out.”

Jenas previously presented the Match of the Day spin-off and was a regular studio analyst for the BBC’s coverage of the European Championship.
He was also mentioned as a replacement for Gary Lineker on Match of the Day amid rumours he could leave soon.
Former footballer Jenas, 41, joined The One Show in 2020, co-presenting with Alex Jones.
A year later he became one of the regular hosts.
In addition to his time with England, he played for Tottenham Hotspur for eight years, between 2005 and 2013, after joining from Newcastle United.
Off the field, Jenas is married to Ellie, whom he wed in 2011.
They have two daughters, Geneva and Olivia, and a son, Jacob. Jenas has an older daughter from a previous relationship, who lives with her mother in the United States.
The story is the last the BBC will see following the Strictly scandal and Huw Edwards’ confession of paedophilia.
BBC bosses are currently deciding how to announce the outcome of their investigation into Amanda Abbington’s claims that Giovanni Pernice bullied her during rehearsals last year.
The former Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle star, who made 21 appearances for England, lives in a £1million house in Hertfordshire.
The former footballer made his first-team debut for Nottingham Forest at the age of 17 and earned a lucrative transfer to Newcastle United in 2002, where he was named PFA Young Player of the Year in his first full season.
However, his career was plagued by injuries and he was forced to retire from playing in 2014 at the age of 31 due to a knee injury.
But Jenas has built a successful television career after his active playing career. He has worked not only for the BBC, both on TV and radio, but also for TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport), where he worked as an analyst on the channel’s football coverage and as a presenter of Formula E.
In 2020, he moved into a different field than football and started working as a presenter on The One Show.
Speaking to The Sun in 2021, Jenas admitted he would one day like to present the iconic football programme, which has been presented by former Spurs star Lineker since 1999.
He said: In an interview with The Sun in October 2021, Jermaine said: ‘Match Of The Day is the biggest job on television and if I ever get the chance, of course I would say yes.
‘If Gary decides to step down, I’m sure the BBC will take a hard look at who is best suited for the job.’
Lineker previously called Jenas his ‘natural successor’.
