On the red carpet, Strong was also seen sharing a laugh with Cox, suggesting there’s no problem after his recent criticism of his son’s on-screen acting.

Earlier, the 76-year-old actor, who plays the role of the family patriarch, said he was “fucking annoying” when his on-screen son stays in character on set as part of his method acting technique.

In late February, Cox was asked what it’s like to be around someone who is always in character in an interview with town and country.

“Oh, it’s fucking annoying,” he said in response, criticizing the method acting in general. ‘Don’t make me go on that.’

Strong is known for dedicating himself and incorporating a strict method acting into all of his performances, including his role as Kendall Roy in Succession.

“I take it as seriously as I take my life,” Strong had previously stated of the practice of “identity diffusion” and his character in an interview with the new yorker in December 2021.

According Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institutemethod acting is a rehearsal technique that ‘trains actors to use their physical, mental and emotional selves in the creation of a character’.

By definition, The Method encourages actors to fully live their roles both on and off screen.

“It’s just there and it’s accessible,” Cox said, stating that acting is just an inborn talent. ‘Not a great fucking religious experience.’

The Manhunter star praised Strong for his talent, but also said he wouldn’t “waste” his talent by taking a moment to embody his character off-screen.

“He’s fucking talented,” Cox said. ‘When you have the gift, celebrate the gift. Go back to your trailer and smoke weed, you know?

At the Toronto Film Festival in September, Cox once again criticized Strong’s method acting techniques, calling them “American sh*t.”

He also revealed that he doesn’t hold on to the characters he plays after production ends, unlike actors like Strong.

“I don’t have much of the American shit: having to have a religious experience every time you play a role,” he had declared, according to the hollywood reporter. ‘It’s bullshit’.

All the criticism stems from Strong’s care, as Cox previously admitted that he worries about the “pain” his on-screen son is put through to play the role.

In the same New Yorker article, Cox responded to Strong’s profile. “The result that Jeremy gets is always pretty tremendous,” she said. He only cares what he does to himself.

He added: “I am concerned about the crises he is facing in order to prepare.”

“I don’t know how popular my way of working is among our company,” Strong had also stated in the same article.

But given that her character, Kendall Roy, is considered the black sheep of the family, perhaps this method really adds more realism to the on-screen dynamics in the satirical tragicomedy and contributes to its success today.
