Jeremy Renner’s condition is much more serious than previously reported after he was injured by a snowplow, according to friends of the movie star.
Renner was helping a stranded family member whose car broke down near his mansion near Lake Tahoe, Nevada, when a 14,330-pound snowplow struck him.
At the time, Renner’s representatives stated that he had sustained blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and was in critical but stable condition following surgery.
However, friends now say that Renner’s injuries are much worse than anyone knows and that he “nearly bled to death” and “nearly died” while waiting for help to arrive.

The Hurt Locker star has been hospitalized since New Year’s Day when he was airlifted to a medical center after being “completely crushed” by a 14,000-pound snowplow. He is seen driving a plow in an old video posted to Instagram.
Renner was trying to free a family member whose vehicle got stuck in the snow on New Year’s Day when he was struck by his own snowplow.

“Jeremy was in a lot of pain and was having difficulty breathing,” a source told RadarOnline. He knew that he was in bad shape and that he might not get out of this.
Renner shared images from the hospital of what appeared to be him being wheeled in for a CT scan or MRI on Friday. Captioning the video of him being moved into a large, high-tech imaging machine, Renner wrote: “I wish you all a very special night.”
“It is said that the damage to Jeremy’s chest was so extensive that it had to be reconstructed with surgery,” the source continued.
“So far, he has had two surgeries and will likely need more in the next few weeks on his leg. Doctors tend to space out operations to allow time for the body’s natural healing process to kick in, and that’s the case here.
Renner’s family members have been by his side, including his mother Cearley and sister Kym, since the accident. They’re helping keep him entertained while the actor heals.
