Jeremy Renner says he’s ‘kind of excited’ about death – a year after he was nearly killed in snowplow accident and as he gears up to star in Super Bowl commercial

Jeremy Renner recently admitted he’s “kind of excited” about the death, just over a year after the actor nearly died in a snowplow accident.

Renner, 53, joined James Corden on his SirusXM podcast “This Life of Mine with James Corden” on Thursday to talk about the accident that nearly took his life on January 1, 2023.

‘Before I was never afraid of death. Now I’m really not afraid of it. Now I’m double downing,” Renner told Corden.

‘Yes, certainly not afraid of it. Now I’m a little excited about it. Honestly, this is what life really is.”

“This rock we spin on, and this body and this language we speak, and all these feelings and emotions and conflicts are all horse s***. It’s meaningless in the scheme of things,” Renner said.

Jeremy Renner sat down with James Corden and described his near-death experience after being run over by a snowplow in his Mount Rose, Nevada neighborhood just over a year ago.

On the day of the incident, Renner was plowing snow in his neighborhood in Mount Rose, Nevada, when he stopped to help a family member whose car was stuck.

His £14,000 industrial vehicle then ran him over, as footage showed the moments after he was left seriously injured with 35 broken bones, a collapsed lung and a punctured liver.

The harrowing video captured by police bodycam showed the Kingstown mayor actor on the ground, surrounded by a team of medics who rushed to save his life.

The surreal scene unfolded as rescuers worked desperately to save Renner, who lay next to a huge pool of blood.

The footage revealed the tense moments of the rescue operations as first responders worked quickly to stabilize Renner, who managed to survive the near-death accident.

Once stabilized, Renner was then airlifted to a nearby hospital while his cousin, who tried to help Renner, recounted what had happened moments before.

‘Then it came at me with full force. He tried to jump on it… and it submerged him. Right where the blood is is right where it happened,” Alexander Fries said.

As the plow began to roll toward him, Renner then tried to climb back into the cab and prevent it from hitting his cousin, but was unable to prevent the accident after slipping under the snowplow’s metal tread.

Renner told Corden that while he wasn’t afraid of death before the incident, he really isn’t anymore, saying he was “kind of excited about it.”

‘It was horrible. I thought he was gonna die, man. I hold him and his color just disappears,” Fries said.

While in critical condition in the hospital, Renner revealed that he wrote a farewell note to his family over the phone and wondered, “What does my body look like?” Am I just going to be a backbone and a brain like a science experiment?”

Doctors proceeded to rebuild his ribcage with metal and also used metal plates to reconstruct his eye socket. He now has a titanium rod and screws in his leg.

“I lost a lot of flesh and bone through this experience,” he said in an interview with ABC News last April. “But I am refueled and refilled with love and titanium.”

During his recent interview with Corden, the Avengers actor said his “recovery has been one-way.”

“I had no intention of coming back from the dead, which I thought was glorious, by the way,” Renner said.

He went on to talk about death, saying it is a “glorious” and “energetic” thing that “has no time or place or space or color or anything like that.” Renner added that it’s “just a familiar peace: a beautiful, exciting peace.”

On the one-year anniversary of the incident, Renner took to his Instagram Story and shared the milestone with his 21.2 million followers.

He uploaded a photo of himself from the day he came home from the hospital after the snowplow accident, saying, “My friend reminded me when I came home from the intensive care unit a year ago.”

He was dressed in a light gray T-shirt and dark gray shorts as he stood in what appeared to be a physiotherapy centre.

Renner added under the photo that he is a “lucky man…”

He then shared that same photo on his Instagram page, along with a heartfelt comment.

“I was reminded that love, good will, hard work and a legion of good people get me through every day… thank you, bless you…. And as always, I keep my promise to be better, get stronger and grow to exceed my potential…. Bless you all,” he wrote.

Before that, Renner admitted he was “nervous” about returning to acting.

He confirmed on Instagram that he was back working on his Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown and noted that he was also excited to be back on set.

“Day one on set,” he wrote in a caption alongside a selfie, adding, “Nervous today.”

He also said that he did it all for his fans.

“I hope this works out so I can REALLY make this happen for our production and, more importantly, for the fans,” he continued.

On the same day, he also shared a joint post with the official Instagram account of his thriller series, announcing that production had begun.

The photo showed him posing in a suit, next to the text: ‘THE MAYOR IS BACK.’
