Jeremy Renner reveals he’s back to doing some stunt work after nearly dying in 2023 snow plowing accident

Jeremy Renner revealed during a talk show visit that he is doing some stunt work again after his horrific snowplow accident in 2023 that nearly killed him.

The 53-year-old actor shared a clip of an action scene from the upcoming third season of The Mayor Of Kingstown on Wednesday while promoting the Paramount+ crime thriller series on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Before the clip was shown, Jimmy, 49, asked Jeremy if he was “back to 100 percent” after being seriously injured in the January 1, 2023 accident that left him with more than 30 broken bones, a collapsed lung and a punctured liver incurred. broken rib.

‘I do not know what that is. But I expect to be at maybe 150 percent by the end of the year,” Jeremy said.

“That’s what I’m talking about,” Jimmy said.

‘And doing stunts was not an option for me. Because I was barely walking around. But you know, I went up and said, ‘I’ll just try.’ And when I put on these tennis shoes, I say, ‘Let me try.’ Muscle memory just happened,” Jeremy said.

“I wasn’t confident in any way, but it happened. We made it happen. I think even the clip we brought is part of that sequence, which is great,” Jeremy said.

The clip showed Jeremy as Mike McClusky asked his associates for some brass knuckles so he could do some street justice.

Mike then marched up to a few men and jumped them from behind with a flying blow as he took them both out.

The Mayor Of Kingstown returns for its third season on June 2 on the Paramount+ streaming service.

Jeremy said the action scene marked another step in his recovery.

‘It’s moving forward. And it’s always nice to get a pat on the back for progress, right? And progress is a great fuel to keep moving forward. And my daughter, my family is number one in that regard. And I hope, I’m sure it will continue because I think it’s everlasting,” Jeremy said.

Jimmy became emotional at the beginning of the interview when he told Jeremy that he was worried about him after hearing about his accident.

“I thought we lost you for a moment,” Jimmy said.

‘We did that for a while, yes. But I got some duct tape and put it all back together, it’s all good,” Jeremy said.

Jimmy noted that Jeremy was supposed to appear on the show in January 2023, but that was derailed by his accident.

‘Well look. He was so concerned that, by the way, I remember in the ICU, he texted me, “Dude, you’re trending,” Jeremy said.

“No, I’m dying,” Jeremy said.

‘I wanted to make you laugh. Did it make you laugh?’ said Jimmy.

‘It made me laugh. I wasn’t sure if you meant it, but it was so funny,” Jeremy said.

Jeremy said it was “quite cathartic” and “quite healing” to talk about the accident.

‘I’ll share about it. I shared a few – about recovery on social media and things like that,” Jeremy said.

He retold the snowcat accident that happened when he was trying to clear a road and the 14,000 pound snow plow went out of control and ran towards his cousin.

“So I jumped back on it, or tried to, and got caught in the ruts. And I broke like 38 bones and it was brutal, dude. It was brutal,” Jeremy said.

Jeremy said if he had panicked he would have died.

‘Well, there are wonderful lessons in that, right? I mean, I could go on and on about what happened during the 45 minutes I was on the ice. But the real lessons we can learn from it. There are so many great gifts that are tested to the limit, right? Your physical limits, your spiritual limits, right? Emotional boundaries. It’s like I won’t have a bad day for the rest of my life. It’s impossible, right? There’s that gift,” Jeremy said.

Jeremy said his step-by-step recovery became a reminder of how we should all look at life.

“When we get too stressed, or when things are too hard, or when the odds are insurmountable, or whatever it may be, just put one foot on the ground. And then put another foot down. And then go there, right?’” he said.

Doctors rebuilt Jeremy’s ribcage with metal and used metal plates to reassemble his eye socket.

He also has a titanium rod and screws in his leg.
