Jeremy Renner reflects on the first anniversary of returning home from the hospital after his near-fatal snow plow accident: ‘Lucky man’

Jeremy Renner stopped by Instagram on Monday to share a milestone with his 21.2 million followers.

The 53-year-old actor – who admitted he was “nervous” about returning to work – uploaded a photo of himself from a year ago, the day he came home from hospital after a near-fatal snow plow accident.

He posted the image to his Stories and wrote: ‘My friend reminded me when I came home from intensive care a year ago.’

He was dressed in a light gray T-shirt and dark gray shorts as he stood in what appeared to be a physiotherapy centre.

Renner added under the photo that he is a “lucky man…”

It comes after the star admitted last week that he is ‘nervous’ about returning to acting.

He confirmed on Instagram that he was back working on his Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown and noted that he was also excited to be back on set.

“Day one on set,” he wrote in a caption alongside a selfie, adding, “Nervous today.”

He also said that he did it all for his fans.

“I hope this works out so I can REALLY make this happen for our production and, more importantly, for the fans,” he continued.

On the same day, he also shared a joint post with the official Instagram account of his thriller series, announcing that production had begun.

The photo showed him posing in a suit, next to the text: ‘THE MAYOR IS BACK.’

Renner had his chest crushed and his upper body collapsed when he was pulled under a seven-ton snowplow on his Lake Tahoe property hours after New Year’s 2023.

On New Year’s Day in 2023, Renner was plowing snow in his neighborhood in Mount Rose, Nevada, when he stopped to help a family member whose car was stuck.

His 14,000-pound industrial vehicle ran him over, breaking more than thirty of his bones and leaving him with a collapsed lung.

“I lost a lot of flesh and bone through this experience,” he said in an interview with ABC News last April. “But I am refueled and refilled with love and titanium.”

He said that while he was in critical condition, he wrote a farewell note to his family on his phone and wondered, “What does my body look like?” Am I just going to be a backbone and a brain like a science experiment?”

Doctors rebuilt his ribcage with metal and used metal plates to reassemble his eye socket. He now has a titanium rod and screws in his leg.
