The news of Jeremy’s casting comes just one day after it was announced that Scandal star Kerry Washington will also star in the third film.

The Crown actor Josh O’Connor, Priscilla star Cailee Spaeny, Fleabag alumnus Andrew Scott and legendary actress Glenn Close are also attached to the project.

Rian Johnson, who writes and directs all of the Knives Out films, announced last week that he was “about to go into production” on the third feature film.

While he didn’t reveal an exact release date, he revealed on X, formerly Twitter, that the film will bow sometime in 2025.

“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is,” he wrote. “There’s a whole tonal spectrum, from Carr to Christie, and exploring that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc films.”

The first Knives Out film premiered in 2019, starring Daniel amid a stellar cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Molly Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield and the late Christopher Plummer.

Daniel returned to the franchise with the 2022 Netflix release Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, featuring an all-new set of supporting players.

Glass Onion featured names like Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline and Kathryn Hahn.

Jeremy hasn’t been in a movie since 2019, when he played his Marvel role Hawkeye in Avengers: Endgame and had a voice role in the animated film Arctic Dogs.

Since then he has booked a number of television roles, including the Hawkeye series on Disney+ and his critically acclaimed turn on Mayor Of Kingstown.

However, his career was dramatically interrupted on the first day of 2023 when he suffered a harrowing accident that almost cost him his life.

The Hurt Locker star was crushed by a 14,330-pound snow plow as he tried to stop it from running over his cousin in rural Nevada.

He suffered a wide range of serious injuries, including more than thirty broken bones. He later revealed that one of his eyes even popped out.

Jeremy underwent a difficult months-long recovery process, which he documented on social media to the awe of his fanbase.

His ribcage and eye socket are now held in place by metal plates, while a titanium rod needs to be screwed onto his broken left tibia.

“The body is miraculous,” he wrote in the caption of a workout video. ‘Even though I feel like the Tin Man, needing oil for all my new joints (hips, knees, ankles, shins, etc.). Encouraged to persevere after this warm-up (don’t tell my PT).”
