Jeremy Clarkson struggles to answer question about Highway Code

Jeremy Clarkson struggled to answer a frequently asked highway code question during Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on Friday.

The Grand Tour presenter and former Top Gear presenter, 63, left fans in shock when he stumbled upon the answer, despite his car knowledge.

He and guest David asked, “According to the traffic rules, what shape is the standard sign that commands to stop?”

The four answer options were ‘pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal or octagonal’.

David decided to use a lifeline and call a friend, not wanting to risk the £15,000, but when his friend didn’t know, he needed Jeremy’s help.

‘This is what I think… I don’t know. Frankly, I have no idea. I always go too fast to read them,” joked the presenter.

Jeremy explained that it was “almost certainly a hexagon,” but later decided it could be an octagon instead.

Laughing, he said he hadn’t looked at the traffic rules since 1977, forcing David to use another lifeline.

Though the duo eventually came to a conclusion when two of the answers were taken away, fans at home were shocked that Jeremy didn’t know the answer.

One fan wrote, “You’d think Jeremy, with all his past experience in car-related shows, would know to look at some of these signs every once in a while.”

‘Is this a joke? It has always been an octagon,” wrote another.

Someone else added, “Dude, seriously? No wonder so many accidents happen every year.’

It comes after Jeremy teased “slightly scary terrain” for the next two seasons of The Grand Tour.

The former Top Gear presenter is back once again with co-stars James May and Richard Hammond for the new series The Grand Tour: Eurocrash on a 2,400-mile journey from Gdansk in Poland, through Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.

A gripping new trailer has been released for the upcoming series, with the clip showing the trio performing their usual hair-raising car tricks.

As the promo begins, James, 60, is seen driving a small classic car down an airport runway trying to pull up the ramp and into the hold of a giant moving cargo plane.

Jeremy is then seen in an equally miniscule car saying, “We are driving 1,500 miles across four countries. We’re going behind what used to be the Iron Curtain.’

In another scene, Jeremy is seen lowering himself into a racecar on the side of the track, before declaring, “I really can’t get out.” What do you want me to do?!’

The group will cross Eastern Europe, including a stop to visit the sights of Krakow in Poland.

Elsewhere, they test drive a flying car as the vehicle skims down a runway and takes to the air, while in another dramatic scene Jeremy spirals out of control and hurtles down a steep grassy knoll yelling, “Stop it!”

Speaking to Amazon Prime Video for the new season, Jeremy said, “For the next one — the next two, in fact — we’re back in a little bit of scary territory, doing things that we used to do when we were in our 30s and 40s. . But now we’re in our 50s and 60s, so I’m a little nervous about the next two.

“Let’s say we’re going back to Africa, and this is a tough one. It’s hard when you’re young and fit, but I’m really not fit. I am very fat. And I’m 63 now.’
