Jenny Powell has shockingly claimed that she hated her job at the Wheel of Fortune because she was only “spinning letters” and “not allowed to talk.”

Speaking on a new podcast, the TV personality, 53, revealed that she didn’t enjoy being on the iconic game show that kickstarted her career in the 1990s.

Jenny’s role on the show was that of the “glamorous assistant,” who would turn the wheel while the show’s host asked the constants questions.

“I hated it!” Jenny Powell has shockingly claimed that she hated her job at the Wheel of Fortune because she was only ‘spinning letters’ and ‘not allowed to talk’

However, it seems the star now looks back on the job with regret, saying she wouldn’t encourage her own daughter to do something similar.

Jenny, who first appeared on the program in 1995, said, “You just turn letters over and say nothing.”

She shared, “I ended up doing The Wheel of Fortune, which I hated. It was the most important thing, but I hated it. Because I was just a girl flipping crazy letters.”

The presenter told how she only took the job to pay her bills and find a way out of children’s television.

She said, “If someone said to you, okay Jenny, you’re going to wear a really short skirt and we’re all going to spend four meetings discussing the length of it, wearing high heels and flipping some letters and just looking pretty and saying nothing.” ‘

‘Would you do it? I know what I would tell my daughter today. I wasn’t actually allowed to talk.’

The show’s hosts included John Leslie, Nicky Campbell and Bradley Walsh.

The aim of the show was to spin the wheel to gain points and solve puzzles by uncovering letters on a board.

Jenny admitted that she would keep her daughter from taking on a role like hers in Wheel Of Fortune and she wasn’t too keen on her appearing on Love Island either.

In September, Jenny revealed that her eldest daughter, Connie Baxendale, has been approached by ITV to take part in Love Island.

She couldn’t contain her surprise when the 21-year-old shared the attempt to get her on the dating show, admitting, “I spit out my coffee.”

The presenter shared via Instagram that ITV bosses contacted Connie, who bears a striking resemblance to her mother, and continued that she had left the decision in the hands of her daughter.

After appearing together on Loose Women, it seems Connie caught the attention of ITV bosses – who approached her soon after to be on the show.

Jenny explained to The Sun: ‘After appearing on Loose Women with my eldest daughter Connie, the Love Island producers contacted her and asked her if she would be interested in going on the show. She’s gorgeous, so I left it to her.’

But unable to hide her shock, the star continued, “I spit out my coffee when she told me and I said, ‘What did you say?’

Despite the show’s best efforts, performer Connie wasn’t interested in the offer — she said she’s already in love.

As her mother continued, ‘And she replied, ‘That I have a boyfriend and I’m doing art history at UCL’. And she left it at that.’

Jenny shared that Connie “would never do it” and shared, “I think they contacted her through Instagram.”

MailOnline has reached out to Love Island representatives for comment.

And Love Island’s attempt to secure famous offspring comes as no surprise, as the show welcomes some familiar faces in its most recent season.

Gemma Owen, the daughter of footballer Michael Owen, made quite an impression at the villa when she and partner Luca Bish came second in the August live final.

And after the stint, the dressage champion has struck a hefty deal with fashion giant PrettyLittleThing.

She was also joined at the villa by Ronan Keating’s son, Jack, who appeared for the Casa Amor segment – but couldn’t find a connection.

While in season four of the show, actor Danny Dyer’s daughter, Dani, took the crown with former beau Jack Fincham.
