Ryan Guzman shared a story about his mental health this week.

The star, who worked with Jennifer Lopez on 2015’s The Boy Next Door, revealed a past crisis in which he attempted suicide.

“About six and a half, seven years ago… at one point I tried to commit suicide,” the 36-year-old 9-1-1 star told People.

‘Luckily it didn’t work. Luckily, by the grace of God, I was given a second chance,” he added.

In the Tuesday episode of the I’ve never said this before podcast, he said the death of his friend Stephen tWitch Boss in 2022 reminded him of what’s important.

“That moment itself, along with what happened to my brother TWitch, are probably the two greatest foundational moments of my entire life and have given me a deeper sense of compassion and empathy for every individual,” he explained.

Guzman especially wants men to become honest with themselves and address their feelings.

“So I would urge all men to step away from the fact that, ‘You are a tough man, you have to keep all this in check,’ and lean on your brother.

“Really lean on your brother and if your brothers aren’t there the way they should be, find some new ones,” he continued.

“If you don’t have the people who are conducive to a healthy lifestyle, you keep them because of loyalty, let them go.

There are plenty of other people. There are people who have been through your situation before and would like to help.’

Guzman has kept his mental health issues to himself until now, with one exception.

In May 2020, he responded to a fan in a comment on X (formerly Twitter): “I’ve been dealing with depression for years,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

‘I have discovered that the inevitable battle against negativity can only be ‘overcome’ by occupying your mind with tasks that allow the negativity to flow through you, rather than sitting in it. The battles can be won, but the war is endless.”

Guzman was in the news last month when his ex-girlfriend Melanie Iglesias accused Lopez of asking him to pretend he was single while promoting their 2015 film The Boy Next Door. on the Not a hunter podcast.

That’s why Jennifer was seen holding hands with Ryan while promoting the movie, knowing that Guzman was going back to Iglesias at the end of the night.

Lopez – who dated Casper Smart in 2015 – and Iglesias look very similar with toned figures and long dark hair.

However, a source tells DailyMail.com that this claim is far from the truth: “Jennifer was in a happy relationship at the time,” the insider added. “She doesn’t play games like that.”
