Jennifer Lopez’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told sees surge in viewership amid Ben Affleck divorce news

The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Jennifer Lopez’s documentary about her romance with Ben Affleck, saw a ratings spike after news of their split broke.

After news broke that Lopez, 55, had filed for divorce from Affleck, 52, streaming numbers for her documentary on Prime Video skyrocketed in just 24 hours.

Earlier this year, on February 27, the singer released her independently produced project, which chronicles how the couple rekindled their romance after 20 years apart and explores her journey to self-love.

However, the biggest increase in viewing figures came after she revealed that they had secretly split, just weeks after the release of her documentary.

According to Luminate, viewership of The Greatest Love Story Never Told increased by 3,000 percent in the 24 hours after news broke that Lopez had filed for divorce after two years of marriage.

It was previously reported that Lopez did not want to give up on their marriage and tried for months to save their relationship, but he could not resolve the ‘darkness’ within him.

Billboard reported that the number of minutes watched in the US fell from 10,700 on Tuesday to 354,100 minutes on Wednesday.

Lopez’s film documents the making of her album This Is Me… Now and recounts how she and her now-estranged husband nearly married nearly two decades ago, but ultimately called off their engagement in 2004.

The couple rekindled their romance in 2021 and married the following year.

And because news of their divorce was in the news, a number of Affleck quotes from the documentary surfaced online again.

Fans claimed he was hinting at the tensions in their marriage by pointing out his noticeably indifferent attitude, which reportedly became worse when Lopez showed her the love letters he had written to her.

At one point in the film, he seemed shocked that their love letters were no longer private and that she had shown them to others.

He recalled his discovery, saying, “I came to the house one day and she had told me, ‘There are musicians coming, this great producer Rogét [Chahayed]blah blah blah.”

“And then I went over there and there was the book that I had given her,” he recalled.

“She said something like, ‘I’ve been reading, this is the kind of inspiration, I showed them the book.’

‘I was like, “Did you show all those letters to all the musicians?” And they were like, “Yeah, we’ll call you Pen Affleck,” and I was like, “Oh my God.”‘

Another illuminating moment in the documentary was when Lopez revealed that Affleck wasn’t “comfortable” being her muse and revealing details about their private relationship in public, fans noted.

“He loves me, he knows I’m an artist, and he’s going to support me in every way he can because he knows he can’t stop me from making the music I’ve made and writing the words I’ve written. But that doesn’t mean he’s comfortable being my muse.”

The ratings surge comes after Lopez filed for divorce earlier this week on the anniversary of their August 2022 Georgia wedding ceremony.

In legal documents obtained by DailyMail.com, Lopez also listed April 26 as the official date of their separation, indicating that the estranged couple continued to act as if they were still together despite the marital problems and rumors of an “imminent” divorce that had been circulating for months.
