Jennifer Lopez has left her fans ‘confused’ after she shared a new Instagram video about her relationship with alcohol – saying she enjoyed the ‘occasional cocktail’ but didn’t get ‘s***-faced’.
The 53-year-old singer took to Instagram on Monday and posted a lengthy clip defending herself against critics who denounced her choice to launch her alcohol brand Delola, despite previously admitting she doesn’t drink.
JLo looked like her usual glamorous self in a sleeveless camel colored jumpsuit with an oversized collar and a zip front.
The mother-of-two wore oversized sunglasses, hoop earrings and a personalized gold necklace as she addressed her 248 million followers.

“So I’m on my way to sneak out and get some Delola,” Jennifer began in the video.
“A few people are coming over for the holiday weekend and I realized we don’t have any. I thought we would, but we don’t. So I’m going to the store to get some, hopefully they have it there,’ she laughed.
Sitting in the front passenger seat of the moving vehicle, Jennifer continued, “I’m very excited, I like holiday weekends, I like to spend time with family and friends and have a little cocktail.
“I know a lot of people have been talking about, ‘Oh, she’s not even drinking, what’s she doing with a cocktail?’ And to tell you the truth, it was for a long time, I didn’t drink.
“A few years ago, as you’ll see in various photos of me over the last 10, maybe 15 years, I’d have a cocktail now and then.
‘I do like a cocktail now and then. I drink responsibly, I don’t drink to be fooled. I drink to be social and to have a good time and just relax a little bit and let loose a little bit, but always responsibly,” she revealed.
“I have to tell you, I tried a lot of different things, cocktails, I liked Belarusians at one point, I liked rosé, but I never found anything I really liked, and so like everything else in my life, I made it myself.’
The On The Floor hitmaker filmed herself entering a local liquor store and was thrilled to find a few bottles of Delola.

The store owners, as well as other customers, were overjoyed when they realized who she was and quickly asked to take pictures, even starting to play her music.
However, some of Jennifer’s Instagram followers were less than impressed with the video due to the fact that her husband, Ben Affleck, is sober.
One person took to the comment section claiming, “So awkward when she talks about responsible drinking and not being ridiculed knowing her husband [suffered] years of alcoholism.”
Another person wrote, “I’m just confused about her talking about alcohol and cocktails when her husband is an alcoholic… who would be recovering?” It makes no sense and I find it very difficult to understand.’
A third person commented, “So sad because her husband doesn’t drink, why is she making a point of telling us this?” Who cares… soon she’ll start selling her cocktail in such a weird way and he doesn’t need this either.’
Ben’s past: Some of Jennifer’s followers were ‘confused’ by her latest venture because her husband, Ben Affleck, struggled with alcoholism in the past

Feeling thirsty: Jennifer started working with her partners on the development of the drinks in 2020 and launched the company in April
A fourth follower said: ‘Hmmm so confused with this video… and how does this help Ben??’ and a fifth asked, “Why don’t you respect your husband’s sobriety?”
Others quickly jumped to Jennifer’s defense when one person fired back, “Why should she pay for her past or present husband? Is his decision. She supports him and makes sure he is under control. But again, it is NOT her responsibility (sic).
“If she drinks occasionally or whenever she wants, she likes to have her stuff. It’s about balance,” they added.
“Her husband’s alcoholism has nothing to do with her. His sobriety doesn’t depend on her or anyone else,’ said another furiously.
Ben, 50, has been to rehab a few times over the years and has been open about his struggles with alcoholism.
He received residential treatment for addiction in 2001 and then remained sober for “a few years.”

Perfect couple: Ben and Jennifer got married in July 2022 after rekindling their romance in 2021
In subsequent years, he declined to discuss his alcoholism in detail, later describing it as a period when he was “drinking relatively normally.”
The Good Will Hunting actor returned to residential treatment in 2017 and, after a publicly documented relapse and intervention, again in 2018.
Ben received further outpatient treatment the following year, but in late 2019 he was filmed stumbling on a Los Angeles street.
He acknowledged the following day that he had had a brief ‘slip’ after being sober for over a year and later described the incident as ’embarrassing’.
Meanwhile, Jennifer told earlier In style that she believes alcohol “ruins your skin.”
Speaking to UsWeekly in 2016, Jennifer called her alcohol-free lifestyle one of the ultimate secrets to looking so young: “I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t have caffeine. That really destroys your skin when you get older.’
