Jennifer Lopez shares her best child-raising advice at Grameen America’s Raising Latina Voices event to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month

Before going back to work on her new movie Atlas, Jennifer Lopez attended the Grameen America’s Raising Latina Voices event this weekend.
The 53-year-old actress, singer and mother of 14-year-old twins Emme and Maximilian, spoke with Andrea Jung, President & CEO of Grameen America at the event, held at Universal Studios in Loa Angeles.
During her speech, she revealed the best advice she had for her own children, which she shared with the audience.

“The best advice I can give my children: you can be who you think you can be,” she began.
‘Look for that in yourself and don’t give up. Learn from people who have done well, take those ideas and innovate and refine them and make them your own,” she added.
“And listen to your parents, we’re not as ignorant as we seem when you’re 14,” she joked.

Lopez revealed during a recent interview with Good morning Americawhy she decided to partner with Grameen America.
“When you get a little older, you understand the meaning behind things and you’ve seen enough and you’ve had your own struggles and seen enough injustices,” she revealed.
“I just feel like this country needs more love and positivity, and people who want to do good things, not fight each other and just shake hands. That’s important to me,” the businesswoman continued.

Grameen America is a New York City-based organization that provides financial aid and education to poor women who want to start their own businesses.
Forbes reported that by partnering with the organization, J-Lo will help them achieve their goal of “providing 600,000 Latina entrepreneurs with $14 billion in debt.”
“It feels like the only thing holding back the Latino community is financial literacy and access to capital,” Lopez said. Forbes.

“Being Latino in this country has always been a matter of pride for me. I am humbled and extremely grateful to be working with Grameen America. We are building roads to employment and leadership opportunities,” Lopez added in a blog post on the Grameen America website announce its partnership.
“There’s so much power in this community and we’re harnessing it. This partnership will create equality, inclusivity and opportunities for Latina women in business,” she added.
Lopez also took the time to join the crowd at Saturday’s event and snap selfies with throngs of her adoring fans.
