Jennifer Lopez revealed Wednesday that it was her husband Ben Affleck’s idea to have a secret wedding in Las Vegas in July of last year.
The 53-year-old American actress appeared in Sunrise to promote her new film Shotgun Wedding and admitted that she finds large wedding ceremonies “very stressful”.
The New York-born star said her reservations about hosting a big wedding led Ben, 50, to suggest they elope in a small ceremony in Las Vegas.

“You have all these expectations that you can’t control and that’s why Ben and I decided to get married a month early in Las Vegas,” he told Sunrise’s entertainment correspondent Steve Hargrave.
‘It was his idea and I thought it was brilliant. He took all the pressure off me about the big wedding we were going to have with our families,” she added.
The couple eloped in a private ceremony on July 16 last year before hosting a larger ceremony for friends and family at Ben’s $8.9 million estate the following month.

Jennifer detailed their journey to the altar in her On The JLo newsletter, where she shared how the couple read their own vows and opted not to pay more for an Elvis impersonator during the intimate ceremony.
Ben first got engaged to JLo in the early years, and after their split he was married to Jennifer Garner for a decade until 2015.
Years after their divorce, Ben and JLo resumed their romance in 2021 and officially tied the knot in Las Vegas last July.

After the small Las Vegas wedding, they honeymooned in Paris before planning a grand adventure in August at a plantation-style estate in Georgia.
Ben and Jennifer Garner share three children: Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 10, to whom they are friendly parents.
Meanwhile, J-Lo welcomed her own 14-year-old twins Max and Emme with her third and final ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
