Jennifer Lopez on ‘high alert’ as ex Diddy is charged over fears a nightclub shooting where she was ARRESTED will be re-opened

Jennifer Lopez’s executive team is on “high alert” and has held crisis calls to prepare a plan in the event the star becomes involved in the ongoing criminal investigation into her ex Sean “Diddy” Combs.

According to insiders, Lopez’s team considered whether to break her silence after her arrest along with Combs on December 27, 1999, in connection with the shooting of Natania Reuben and two others outside the Times Square Club in Manhattan.

Lopez spent 14 hours in jail after being arrested along with Combs and his bodyguard. Officers found a gun in the car they used to flee the scene of the shooting.

While Lopez was released and quickly cleared of involvement, Combs, his bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones and Jamal “Shyne” Barrow, a 21-year-old rapper, were all charged.

Combs and Jones were acquitted, but Barrow was found guilty of weapons possession, assault and reckless endangerment. He was sentenced to nine years in prison.

Natania, who was left with bullet fragments in her face, has always maintained that Diddy pulled the trigger. More and more voices are calling for the case to be reopened.

One theory is that Barrow took the blame for Diddy.

In a $30 million sexual abuse lawsuit filed in February, producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones alleges that on the night of the 1999 shooting, Diddy bragged that Lopez “brought the gun to the club for [Combs] and gave him the gun after he got into an argument with another person.’

While Lopez has never commented on the shooting, an insider told DailyMail.com that her team is now considering whether to pursue the case as the music mogul’s dark past increasingly comes under the spotlight.

The source added that the singer’s mother was also very concerned, as she had always opposed her daughter’s relationship with Combs.

“Jennifer Lopez’s team is on high alert as they anticipate drama could ensue as more people commemorate the Natania Reuben shooting,” a source said.

‘This week, crisis talks were held to discuss how and whether Jennifer should respond if the ongoing case brings the past to light.

‘Jennifer was there when the incident happened and a lot of people in the industry look at her strangely.’

Another source told DailyMail.com that Lopez’s team was working hard to ensure she wouldn’t be “caught off guard” if she ran into trouble with Combs.

“Everyone who has ever been associated with Diddy is now being investigated, and Jen has people looking into all of that,” they said.

“She does not believe that whatever happens to Diddy will have negative consequences, but she will do everything she can to prevent future crises.”

But a third source claimed Lopez was concerned, and that’s why her team is preparing a plan.

‘If they reopen this case, they will be back in a situation that she has spent the last 25 years trying to forget.

“She’s had the worst year of her life and this whole thing with Diddy is nothing more than old wounds.”

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Lopez for comment.

Lopez has released only scant details about her tumultuous two-year relationship with Combs.

Combs is charged with sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for the purpose of prostitution, drug offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.

Meanwhile, Natania Reuben again told NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas in March that Combs shot her, not Barrow.

“I literally saw them pull their guns,” she said during an appearance in

“I had a clear position. I mean, for God’s sake — I got shot in the nose.”

Earlier this week, Natania’s mother said she “cried out to God” after her daughter told her about Combs’ arrest.

“I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ She said, ‘Yes!’” she told The Daily Beast.

“I cried out to God, ‘Thank you, merciful Father!'”

Combs has been charged with human trafficking, extortion and transportation of persons for the purpose of prostitution, according to a federal indictment unsealed Tuesday in New York.

He was arrested in Manhattan on Monday, six months after federal authorities raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami in a sex trafficking investigation.

Shortly after Combs was jailed, a 2015 clip emerged of Lopez asking on The Wendy Williams Show if a romantic reunion with Diddy was a possibility.

Lopez laughed and shook her head, but when the cameras panned to the A-list star’s mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez, in the audience, she looked enraged and yelled “no!” while making a “stop it” gesture with her hand at her daughter.
