Jennifer Lopez ‘was NOT crying’ at brunch with Ben Affleck at the Beverly Hills Hotel, body language expert says
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez showed off a cozy day in Beverly Hills as they spent time together with their kids, according to a body language expert.
Judi James, a British body language specialist, revealed her interpretation of the snaps, which caused a stir among fans this weekend.
Ben, 52, and J Lo, 55, appeared tense as they saw each other for the first time since the Jenny From the Block singer filed for divorce. They headed to the Beverly Hills Hotel with their children.
According to Judi, the two initially showed “signs of tension,” but in reality the divorced man and woman showed “no hostility” toward each other.
The exchange took place for Ben’s children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner—Finn, 15, and Samuel, 12—and Jennifer’s 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Ben also shares Violet, 18, with Garner.

While many fans claim that the couple argued during the outing, Judi disputes this analysis, claiming that the couple’s body language actually shows that they are open to communicating with each other.
Speaking to FEMAIL, Judi said: ‘There are some signs of tension here [Ben and Jennifer’s] facial expressions as they walk together but turn away, but some of their more subtle signals indicate a lack of frost and a possible mutual desire to communicate.’
In one photo, Ben appeared angry with J Lo, but Judi suggested the couple’s body language actually betrayed that they were talking intimately.
“At one point, as they walk together, Ben leans forward, as if he wants to have a more intimate conversation. Their closeness suggests there is no hostility, despite the fact that at one point he also waves his arms as if asking her questions,” she said.
The body language expert added: ‘But the most important signal comes from their arms, which hang close enough to touch, and their inner hands, which they both keep free despite having tools at hand, like his can of drink and her bag, that can act as a barrier against rejection.’

“I’m pretty sure Jennifer wasn’t crying in the car photo,” she said. “Here’s the tip of a claw touching her face, and that’s how you scratch tears, not dab them away.”
Judi’s assessment that the couple did open up to each other is consistent with reports from Page Six that they were spotted kissing during an afternoon out.
According to the outlet, the couple was spotted lovingly during brunch with the children.
A source claimed that Ben and Jennifer were “holding hands and kissing at the Polo Lounge of the Beverly Hills Hotel.”
The insider explained that their children were also nearby at the restaurant, “but at a separate table.” At the end of brunch, Jennifer Garner picked up her and Affleck’s children, while the exes left together in the car.
And perhaps another sign that the couple is getting along better than many initially thought is that J Lo was wearing Ben’s engagement ring, albeit on her pinky.
The actress exuded movie star glamour in a chic black cropped sweater and tight, flared jeans as she walked alongside Ben at the famous hotel.
Her sandy blonde hair fell in loose waves, framing her flawless face, which was made even more beautiful by a pair of vintage glasses.
Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck last month, after months of speculation about the state of their marriage.
In court documents seen by DailyMail.com, the singer listed April 26, 2024 as the date of their separation.
A source close to the star told DailyMail.com that people close to Lopez are fed up with her chaotic love life.
“After four failed marriages, her friends think she needs to take a good look at herself and focus on herself instead of what others expect of her. She wants to finally figure out who she is and what she wants for her future,” the insider said.
The source told DailyMail.com that the My Love Don’t Cost A Thing star isn’t the only one capable of playing mind games.
The insider explained Affleck’s approach this way: “Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and that she waited until the two-year anniversary because she wanted to stab him.
“But it didn’t hurt him. He’s been done for a long time and deep down she knows it. He gave her this so she wouldn’t look like the bad guy.”
The couple first sparked rumors of a split when they weren’t seen together for 47 days.
There was still speculation about a fractured relationship, as they spent several summer vacations apart and Lopez also walked the red carpet alone at the Met Gala in May. It was also the reason Lopez canceled her world tour “to be with her family.”
Since then, the two have spent their summers on opposite coasts and have not celebrated their anniversary together.
