Jennifer Lopez explores purchase of $55 million Azria Estate in LA following split from Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez appears to be on the verge of making a major real estate purchase after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck.

The 55-year-old actress-singer is currently exploring the possibility of purchasing the famed Azria Estate in Los Angeles’s upscale Holmby Hills neighborhood, insiders said. TMZ Wednesday.

The perennial A-lister is “close to closing a deal” to purchase the 30,000-square-foot estate, sources told the outlet, indicating she’s offering between $30 million and $39 million for the home, which has an asking price of $55 million.

Named after its late owner, fashion designer Max Azria, who passed away in May 2019 at the age of 70, the estate features 14 bedrooms with luxury amenities including a home theater and an infinity pool.

According to the outlet, there may be complications with the purchase of the estate, as billionaire Ron Burkle had placed a $30 million bid for the estate earlier this year in order to win an auction.

That led to a lawsuit in May between Burkle and Azria’s widow Lubov Azria over allegations of breach of contract, the outlet reported.

According to TMZ, the Love Don’t Cost a Thing artist has been in contact with both parties about a possible purchase of the estate, which is listed by Branden and Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates.

Last month, during her split from Affleck, Lopez expressed interest in purchasing the estate and has toured the property several times in recent weeks, insiders told the outlet.

The Jenny from the Block singer toured the home with Affleck last year while they were house hunting, TMZ reported. The house was also used as a location for filming her latest film, Atlas.

Another surprise is that the estate is adjacent to the Los Angeles mansion that Lopez’s ex Sean “Diddy” Combs recently put up for sale for $61 million.

Other famous people living in the area, the outlet reported, include music mogul Jimmy Iovine, businessman Sean Parker and designer Tom Ford.

The estate’s amenities include manicured gardens, a gym, wine cellar, greenhouse, games room, guest house, tennis court, extensive parking and an infinity pool with adjoining sauna.

The Georgian Colonial-style home was designed in the 1930s by the late architectural icon Paul Williams and is known for its columns, moldings and ornamentation.

The property also features a life-size chess board in the backyard and breathtaking views of the Los Angeles area.

The late Azria bought the property in 2005 and spent about $30 million renovating the property. A previous listing for the home in 2015 had an asking price of $87 million.

The potential sale is one of several major real estate deals stemming from the split. Lopez and Affleck are reportedly selling a $68 million Los Angeles estate called Crestview Manor, while Affleck has moved into a Brentwood, California, mansion he bought last summer, just before the divorce was announced.

Lopez’s filing on August 20, 2024, follows months of speculation about the relationship between the 52-year-old singer/actress and actor/director. Their relationship troubles have dominated Hollywood news in recent months.

Lopez filed the documents on the second anniversary of their marriage on August 20, 2022, at Affleck’s estate outside Savannah, Georgia.

Lopez and Affleck made headlines in 2021 when they rekindled their romance, nearly 17 years after they called off their original engagement and postponed their September 2003 wedding.

In April 2021, reports surfaced that the musician and the Oscar-winning director had reconnected following Lopez’s split from former MLB star Alex Rodriguez.

The couple confirmed their relationship on Instagram in July and made their red carpet comeback at the 2021 Venice Film Festival. On July 16, 2022, they tied the knot at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas.

“It ended up being the best possible wedding we could have imagined,” Lopez said in her On the JLo newsletter on July 17, 2022. “A wedding we dreamed of for a long time and finally made a reality (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible, and each other).”

The couple exchanged vows again at Affleck’s estate outside Savannah, Georgia on August 20, 2022, exactly two years before Lopez filed for divorce. The guest list included Matt Damon, Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes and Hollywood talent agent Patrick Whitesell, and the ceremony was officiated by podcaster and life coach Jay Shetty.

Lopez is the mother of 16-year-old twins Max and Emme from her marriage to Marc Anthony, which lasted from 2004 to 2014.

Affleck, who was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, has three children with her: 18-year-old Violet, 15-year-old Fin and 12-year-old Samuel.
