The Mother is the latest work from director Niki Caro, who previously helmed the critically acclaimed film Whale Rider and Disney’s live-action flop Mulan, which was released for a fee on Disney+ in September 2020, while many movie theaters will still be closed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Gael García Bernal and Omari Hardwick also star in the film, which will stream on Netflix on May 12, 2023.

In January, the Hustlers star was spotted filming some footage for the movie in an ultra-casual costume that was a far cry from her usual glamorous ensembles.

She was wearing a very casual fleece-lined jacket and hat on a rainy, cloudy Los Angeles Day, which matched her casual winter suit perfectly.

Jennifer’s shoot was missing her husband Ben Affleck and the five children they share as part of their blended family.

The actress and singer recently gushed about becoming a stepmother to the 50-year-old Oscar winner’s three children — Violet, 17; Serafina, 14; and Samuel, 10.

Ben also became the stepfather to her twins Emme and Max, 14, who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

While talking to PeopleJennifer delved into how she tries to juggle her busy singing and acting career with her obligations as a mother and now a stepmother.

“I put my best foot forward as much as I can,” she said modestly, before adding that she prefers to keep it to herself when she’s stressed out with her obligations.

“I am not one to share my fear. I don’t feel like that’s my life as an artist. You always show the best of yourself,” she explained. “But I am human like everyone else, and sometimes I suffer in silence.”
