Why Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are selling their $60M LA mansion that he ‘never liked’ and ‘is way too big’ for her amid alleged marital woes
Neither Jennifer Lopez nor Ben Affleck were reportedly ever happy with the purchase of their $61 million Beverly Hills mansion, which they bought last year.
Following reports that the couple quietly put their marital home up for sale last week, sources are shedding light on the decision by the Atlas actress, 54, and the 51-year-old Oscar winner to put the property on the market.
“Ben never liked the house. It’s too far away from his kids,” an insider close to Lopez said People.
The Gone Girl star co-parents his three children Samuel, 12, Fin, 15, and Violet, 18, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, who lives in the Pacific Palisades.
Meanwhile, the singer, who shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max from a previous marriage to Marc Anthony, believes the 12-bedroom house is simply ‘way too big for her’.

The pair, who were rumored to have been ‘living apart’ for weeks, toured more than 80 properties together to find the perfect place to live with their blended family.
Affleck and Lopez have hired real estate agent Santiago Arana of The Agency to sell the property.
Amid rumors that a divorce is imminent for the couple, a source said TMZ that their relator has been “looking at the house for about two weeks” but has not yet found a buyer.
The insider reported that “they are asking about $65 million for the house.”
With the “significant money” the duo has put into improvements, the outlet said they would face “a loss of millions of dollars.”
TMZ also reported that Lopez is “already looking for a new home,” as Affleck is renting for $100,000 a month in Brentwood, near Garner.
Earlier this week, DailyMail.com reported that photos of the lavish interior of their marital home appeared on estate agents’ websites after being removed following the sale of the property to the couple last May.
DailyMail.com has determined that these new photos were uploaded to the real estate site Zillow.com on June 1 and 5. The house is still listed as sold.
Following reports that the couple quietly put their marital home on the market earlier this month, sources are shedding light on the decision by the Atlas actress, 54, and the 51-year-old Oscar winner to put the property on the market.
The couple bought the house and paid for it with cash after a two-year search for their dream home in what was supposedly a fairytale ending to their decade’s long love story.
Last week, fifty images, including an exterior shot of the palatial property, illuminated and glowing against the Los Angeles sky, became visible in multiple real estate locations where there once were none.
A property description has also been uploaded describing the Wallingford estate, on which the property is located, as an exclusive 6-acre promontory. The plot includes not only the main house, but also an adjacent outbuilding with 10,000 square meters of guest accommodation and a caretaker’s house.
There are garages for 15 cars and parking for 80 and an outdoor sports complex with basketball, pickleball, gym, boxing ring and bar, as well as a 150 degree zero edge pool.
The move has led to speculation that the 17-bedroom, 40,000 sq ft property will be quietly put back on the market.

A J-Lo rep pointed out that the images themselves are not new.
It’s just the latest indication that all is not well for the A-listers who jetted off to Las Vegas in July 2022 before celebrating their union over several days — and several dresses — in Georgia the following month.
Earlier this month, J-Lo shocked fans by abruptly canceling the US leg of her ‘This is Me Now’ tour, sales of which had proven disappointing.
In a statement, she described herself as “absolutely sad and devastated that she has let you down.”
She continued, “I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t feel like it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time.’
The actress and singer’s reason for canceling her long-standing commitment was that she was “taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends.”
It did not go unnoticed that her husband did not review a listing.

According to In Touch, the stars are in relationship therapy and Garner has proven to be an unlikely champion and supporter of her ex’s marriage to J Lo.
The couple have rarely been photographed together in more than two months – at one point they were never spotted together for 50 days. And J Lo has attended a series of major events solo – the premiere of her Netflix film Atlas and the Met Gala.
A source told TMZ that Affleck was unable to attend the Met event because he was busy filming “The Accountant 2” across the country. Still, he found time to attend Tom Brady’s roast a day early.
While J Lo has consistently worn her wedding ring, Affleck has since been seen both with and without his.
