Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about the ways becoming a mom has changed her plans for the future, as the star admitted she didn’t expect to be pursuing a directing career anytime soon.
The 32-year-old welcomed one-year-old son Cy in 2022 with husband Cooke Maroney, 38, and the No Hard Feelings star made it clear that focusing on her family was her top priority in a new interview.
During an interview on Good Morning America on Monday, the Hunger Games actress explained how her hopes of directing a feature film had changed in recent years.
‘I thought so [I would direct]. Now I’m just so tired and it just looks so hard,” she said.

However, the actress is still working hard in front of the camera and behind the scenes after starring and producing her upcoming comedy, No Hard Feelings.
Reflecting on her experience as a producer, she told GMA host George Stephanopoulos, “It’s good. It’s busy but focused and streamlined. I don’t take anything that I can’t personally read and take notes on every version.”
The actress admitted that she didn’t even plan to return to acting once she did after giving birth, but the quality of the comedy’s script pushed her to make her Hollywood comeback.
“I just had a baby and had no plans to work for a long time,” she began. “But I’ve read the script. It was the funniest thing I’d ever read.’
The Silver Linings Playbook star explained that she wouldn’t start the next project until the time was right, while continuing to focus on her family life.
She stated: ‘Once you start your family, that’s the most beautiful thing in the world. I’m just going to try to take in every second and be there and enjoy it.”
When asked if she’s likely to become a “helicopter mom,” Jennifer laughed, “Probably. I’ll have to work on it.’
Jennifer and Cooke, an art gallerist whom she married in 2019 at Belcourt Castle in Newport, Rhode Island, have never made their baby’s exact date of birth public.

However, it was widely reported that he was born in February 2022.
The couple named their baby after Cy Twombly, a 20th century American artist whose work influenced names like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Julian Schnabel.
She spoke touchingly about motherhood in a Vogue interview last year, reflecting on how her outlook had changed since Cy was born.
“The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started all over again. Like, now is the first day of my life,” she gushed.
‘I just stared. I was just so in love. I also fell in love with all the babies everywhere. Newborns are so wonderful.”
Jennifer added, “It’s these pink, puffy, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. Now I hear a baby crying in a restaurant and I’m like, “Awwww, treasuresss.”‘
The Don’t Look Up actress reflected, “My heart has stretched to a capacity unknown to me. I involve my husband in that. And then they’re both just out there – walking around, crossing streets.’
Jennifer was amazed that her baby would ride one day. He becomes a stupid teenager and gets behind the wheel of a car.’

Meanwhile, Jennifer prepares for the release of her raucous new comedy, in which she plays a penniless woman who tries to seduce a 19-year-old boy for a fee.
Jennifer’s character Maddie is in such a dire financial situation that she is about to lose her late mother’s house.
She puts herself at the mercy of a pair of wealthy New Age “helicopter parents” played by Broadway stars Laura Benanti and Matthew Broderick.
Percy (Andrew Feldman), their nerdy teenage son, is about to go to college and has been coddled all his life, never breaking the rules.
The couple offer Maddie a car in exchange for a heavyweight favor – she must seduce Percy before he leaves for Princeton.
No Hard Feelings then embarks on her increasingly desperate attempts to get Percy into bed, including an all-night skinny dipping excursion, taking him out to drink underage, and even playfully attempting to kidnap him.
Helmed by Good Boys director Gene Stupnitsky, No Hard Feelings is set for a June 23 release.
