Jennifer Coolidge Opens Up About Being An Awards Season Favorite For The White Lotus
Jennifer Coolidge is coming off one of the best years of her career, earning both fan and critical acclaim for her portrayal of Tanya McQuoid on HBO’s The White Lotus.
The character of the 61-year-old actress, a strangely rich heiress, was the only character to return for season 2 of the series.
She earned her first consecutive Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice Awards and is up for her first Screen Actors Guild Award next weekend.
The actress also took home a Hasty Pudding Theatricals Woman of the Year award and starred in a Super Bowl commercial for elf Cosmetics.
The actress spoke about her resurgent career in a wide-ranging interview with Peoplewhere she admitted why she thinks she’s become so well-liked lately.

“I think people liked that I was the underdog. she played a lot of weird women, and people had fun with the comedies I did,” Coolidge began.
“Then Mike White put me in The White Lotus and it was a drama and a comedy at the same time, I never had that,” Coolidge admitted.
‘Something happened this awards season. I don’t know if they just played clips of me so many times on the internet or Instagram, but no matter what costume I’m wearing, I can be wearing a frog costume with a helmet and people know it’s me. admitted the actress.
“I was walking in the North End of Boston recently and couldn’t make it down the street,” he said.
I think it’s very interesting. I guess it’s the internet. I don’t know, or maybe I have a strange walk,’ Coolidge guessed.
She returned to her hometown of Boston earlier this month to receive the Hasty Pudding Theatricals Woman of the Year award, which she said meant a lot to her because her father and three uncles are Harvard alumni.
‘It was incredible. They wrote and choreographed this mind-blowing show, and it was brilliant,” he said of the show.
“They gave me a parade and we had dinners and I got to hang out with the kids and they indoctrinated me,” added the actress.

He then praised the Harvard students who organized the show, adding: “All these kids could have jobs right now, they’re all winners at such a young age.”
“Everyone on that show has such developed comedic timing at 18, 19, 20. I didn’t have that at that age,” he continued.
‘I was impressed. I thought it was very moving to see these youngsters going to have great careers,” Coolidge smiled.
When asked what she has planned next, with awards season winding down, the actress admitted: “I just want to lie in my bed for a week with my dog.” I don’t want to move at all.
When it was jokingly suggested that Mike White could cast her as the ghost of Tanya McQuoid in The White Lotus Season 3, she admitted, “That would get me out of bed for sure.”
He recently starred opposite Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel in Prime Video’s Shotgun Wedding, which premiered last month.
The actress will also return as Paulette Parcelle opposite Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde 3, which is currently in pre-production.
Coolidge will next be seen in Netflix’s We Have a Ghost, starring David Harbor and Anthony Mackie, which debuts on the streaming service on February 24.
