In 2020, The Mail on Sunday reported that Jennifer had reconciled with her father, calling him every day during the pandemic.

A source said: “Jen has forgiven her father for running away a long time ago. But their relationship has had ups and downs.

“Jennifer hasn’t spoken to him in ages. But since the corona crisis, she has been on the phone almost every day. And not just short conversations.’

The insider added: “It’s like she realizes that life is very short and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be. He’s overjoyed that they’ve reconciled.’

Her father’s passing comes after Jennifer spoke of the pain of her parents’ divorce and forgiving both her mother and father later in life.

Speak with To tempt last week she said, “I think my mom’s divorce really ruined her.”

But after years of reflection, she can now see some of the limitations someone from her mother’s generation had to go through.

“In that generation, it wasn’t like, ‘Go to therapy, talk to someone. Why don’t you start microdosing?’ You go through life picking up your child with tears on your face and you have no help,” she added, apparently referring to her mother’s situation.

‘I have forgiven my mother. I have forgiven my father. I’ve forgiven my family,” Jennifer revealed, which is a big deal considering she’d been estranged from her mother for years.

Now that she’s reaped the rewards of forgiveness, The Morning Show star said she now knows herself how “important” it is to let go of painful moments wrapped in resentment.

She said, “It’s poisonous to have that resentment, that anger. I learned that by watching my mother never let go.

‘ I remember saying ‘Thank you for showing me what will never be’. “So that’s what I mean by taking the dark things that happen in our lives, the not-so-happy moments, and trying to find places to honor them for what they’ve given us.”

The actress went on to exemplify those benefits by confessing that she gained the motivation to leave her family’s home, which she described as “not a nice house to live in,” as a result of her parents’ divorce.

“I loved getting out,” she said of the family’s New York City apartment.
