Matthew Perry revealed that Jennifer Aniston confronted him about his drinking in the trailer for his upcoming ABC News interview with Diane Sawyer, which was obtained by e! News.
The 53-year-old actor discussed his relationship with Friends colleague Aniston, as he spoke candidly about struggling with substance abuse at the height of his fame in the early 2000s.
“At that time I should have been the toast of the city, sitting in a dark room and meeting drug dealers and being all alone,” Perry explained to Sawyer.
He recalled that Aniston approached him one day on the set of Friends, where she bluntly revealed to the actor that she and the rest of the cast “know you’re drinking.”

“Imagine how scary that was,” he told Sawyer before recounting the Office Space star’s continued support during his recovery.
‘[Aniston] was the one that reached the most,” he revealed. “I’m very grateful to her for that.”
The trailer for the interview, which airs Friday, October 28 on ABC, came after the star described how his drug and alcohol addiction gave him a 2% chance of survival because the opioids caused his colon to burst and send him into a coma for two weeks.

During his interview, he spoke about his decades-long struggle to overcome addiction.
Matthew had revealed that he had to undergo 14 operations on his stomach and use an ostomy bag for nine months; he said his stomach has some scars from the multiple surgeries.

His therapist told him he might have to use an ostomy bag for the rest of his life if he does drugs again, something that keeps him from relapsing.
The actor did not disclose when he became sober, but said he is now “pretty healthy” and chooses to “count every day”.
The actor also said he had to go to rehab 15 times to get clean; his first bout was in 1997 and then again in 2001 and in 2011.
During his interview: ‘The doctors told my family I had a two percent chance of being alive. I was put on a thing called an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and your lungs. And that’s called a Hail Mary. Nobody survives that.’

The actor said his alcohol addiction started when he was 24 while starring in Friends, adding that at 34 he was “anchored in a lot of trouble.”
Mathew revealed that he once took 55 Vicodin a day while on Friends, noting that he was only 128 pounds but “didn’t know how to stop.”

The show aired for 10 seasons and made the stars household names.
They got back together in 2021 — the first time in 17 years since the show ended — for a reunion special.
