Jennifer Aniston, 54, reveals exercise regime that is ‘better than anything I’ve ever done’

‘Friends’ star Jennifer Aniston is known for her workout routines that included Pilates, running, boxing and even jumping rope to stay strong and fit.

But now the 54-year-old actress has revealed her latest fitness regimen that she says is much more sustainable for someone in their 50s.

Strength workouts, which she’s called her “best yet,” see her doing full-body squats and floor stretches using a rope to target muscles other exercises might miss.

“I used to get up god knows how many hours before work to do an hour of cardio — I thought it must hurt,” she said. “But with this workout I have incredible results, if not better than anything I’ve ever done before without pain and injury.”

Actress Jennifer Aniston, 54, has unveiled her new functional fitness workout, which uses low-impact workouts that mimic functions you perform in everyday life, such as getting out of bed or picking something up off the floor

The actress recently started Pvolve, a series of “functional fitness” routines targeting abs, glutes, hamstrings, and quads, among others, to improve balance, stability, and mobility.

It was previously championed by other celebrities, including Molly Sims and Kate Bosworth, with the first studio opening in New York City in 2017.

In-workout exercises are designed to mimic the movements people perform every day, such as getting out of bed or lifting objects off the floor.

This helps to train the muscles to work together, the Mayo clinic says, in preparation for daily tasks.

The workouts are also low-impact, making them easier on the joints and improving mobility. Pvolve’s online streaming platform costs $15 per month.

The routine uses a P.ball to sculpt the thighs, glutes, and core, which combines a small ball with a heavy, resistant band that wraps around the legs.

The company offers all the equipment on its website, including a mat, incline board, ankle straps, and gliders.

Customers can purchase the items individually or purchase bundles for $199.99 or $624.99.

Revealing the routines has improved her strength, balance and stability, Aniston shared Well and good: ‘Balance is one thing we need, especially when we are older.

‘Our core is extremely important; our bones become brittle, so we need to keep our bones healthy.

“Pvolve targets all those little micro-muscles that are usually ignored when you’re doing these big exhausting runs or going to spin classes or doing CrossFit or whatever. These are all great methods, but… eventually the body and joints can’t take it anymore over time.”

Studies have also suggested health benefits of the exercise routine.

For example, a 2018 article found that women with back pain who completed 12 weeks of functional resistance training, major improvements in physical function.

Aniston doesn’t weigh herself, but she said she’s noticed big changes in her body. One of the main benefits is fewer injuries.

“I’ve had knee injuries and going up and down stairs has always been tricky for me, and I’ve noticed definition in parts of my body I’d never seen before, especially in my abs and legs,” she said.

In the past, Aniston’s workouts have been more intense, and she initially doubted that low-impact workouts would give her the results she was looking for.

“It’s hard to retrain your brain to say, ‘This will be enough,'” she said. “I used to get up god knows how many hours before work to do an hour of cardio – I thought it was supposed to hurt or we had to feel like we were going to pass out, but that’s the wrong message.”

Now functional exercise has improved her fitness and left a lasting impact on her joints and muscles. “I’m having incredible results, if not better than anything I’ve ever done before without the pain and injuries,” Aniston said.

Many functional exercises require little equipment. Some common examples include glute bridges, where you lie down and lift your back off the floor, squats, and pushups.

In addition to the results, Aniston now looks forward to working out and has developed a healthier relationship with fitness.

“It’s not intimidating and I’m not afraid of it — I’m looking forward to it,” she said. “It’s so good and kind to the body.”
