Jenna Ortega, 21, and Martin Freeman, 52, X-rated sex scene in Miller’s Girl is branded ‘so gross’ and ‘uncomfortable’ by viewers

An X-rated sex scene between Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman in new film Miller’s Girl has been branded ‘gross’ by viewers shocked by their 31-year age gap.

Wednesday star Jenna, 21, plays 18-year-old student Cairo Sweet in the black comedy drama, while Martin, 52, takes on the role of her teacher Jonathan Miller.

In the film, the two become entangled in a very complex and inappropriate relationship, with Cairo choosing to write a sex story after receiving a creative writing assignment from Jonathan.

Raunchy scenes from this story are then played out on screen by Jenna and Martin, leaving viewers in an uproar over the ‘awkward’ age difference.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, a less impressed viewer wrote: “I think I’m finally done watching these age gap movies. They’re all dirty, and I’m tired of it. No Jenna Ortega or Martin Freeman could save this one for me.”

Another said: ‘MARTIN FREEMAN what are you doing about JENNA ORTEGA,’ while one simply said: ‘I feel uncomfortable’.

“That Jenna Ortega Martin Freeman clip might be the worst thing I’ve ever seen,” one person added.

“When Martin Freeman was in his 40s, Jenna Ortega was 10 years old,” another noted.

However, there were some who jumped to the film’s defense, which was directed and written by Hollywood newcomer Jade Halley Bartlett.

“Apparently people are freaking out because Jenna Ortega is kissing a girl in one scene, and in another scene she’s doing the doggy style position with Martin Freeman. Like boys, it’s a movie, she’s acting. Chill,” one person wrote.

“An erotic thriller starring Martin Freeman and Jenna Ortega, as people expected,” said another.

The film stars Martin as a failed writer who turned to teaching after his attempts to find success as a published author fell short.

In Jenna’s character Cairo, he sees a tremendous amount of untapped talent, and despite her increasingly inappropriate activities with him, he decides to risk his career and his marriage to try to help her succeed where he failed.

The film follows how the two become entangled in a complex relationship with Cairo writing a sex story that is reimagined in the drama between herself and Jonathan.

On its website, Lionsgate says of the film: ‘A talented young writer (Ortega) embarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher (Freeman) assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web.

“As the boundaries blur and their lives intertwine, professor and protégé must confront their darkest selves while struggling to preserve their individual sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear.”

Bartlett has spent years trying to bring the film to life — after earning a spot on the Black List in 2016, a platform that spotlights unproduced screenplays and helps writers and producers bring them to the big screen.

The film, which was initially written as a play by Bartlett in 2011, was released in U.S. theaters by Lionsgate on Friday, January 26, after premiering at the Palm Springs International Film Festival earlier this year.

A UK release date has yet to be confirmed.
