Jenna Dewan gets candid about co-parenting with ex Channing Tatum as she admits ‘it’s always a journey’… shortly after announcing she is expecting baby number three

Jenna Dewan has opened up about her co-parenting relationship with ex-husband Channing Tatum, admitting that “it’s always a journey.”

The Rookie actress, 43 — who recently revealed she’s expecting baby number three — discussed raising her kids with the Magic Mike star, also 43, during an interview with Romper.

She shares daughter Everly, 10, with Tatum, as well as a son named Callum, three, with her fiancé Steve Kazee.

“It’s always a journey,” the beauty told the outlet. ‘It never stops. You learn as you go and get better at certain things, and for me, Evie will always be my top priority.”

Dewan continued by adding, “I just put her first all the time. This way I can handle all the difficult things.’

After welcoming her second child, Jenna explained that it had been “hard” being separated from her daughter.

‘It was very difficult in the beginning. And it was definitely hard for her at first too, but she’s gotten into the flow with that a lot more,” the star explained, adding, “But she loves Callum.” She really loves him.’

The dancer and Channing first crossed paths while working on the set of the 2006 film Step Up, and got engaged two years later.

The couple married in July 2009 in a romantic ceremony in Malibu, but announced their separation in April 2018. The following year, in November 2019, their divorce was finalized.

At the time of the split, Dewan and Tatum released a statement saying, “We have something we’d like to share.”

“First of all, it feels strange that we have to share things like this with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to live, which we also happen to be very grateful for…”

The two later added: “We have lovingly chosen to part as a couple. We fell in love so many years ago and had a magical journey together.’

“Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love each other, but love is a beautiful adventure that will take us on different paths for now.”

Finally, the former couple added, “We are still a family and will always be loving, devoted parents to Everly. We will have no further comment and thank you in advance for respecting our family’s privacy.”

Jenna has since moved on with Tony Award winner Steve Kazee, and the couple got engaged in February 2020.

Channing started dating fellow actress Zoe Kravitz in 2021 and the two stars also got engaged last year in 2023.

Earlier on Wednesday, Dewan took to her main Instagram page to excitedly announce to her 9.1 million fans and followers that she’s expecting baby number three: her second with Kazee.

In a short clip, the actress was seen lying in a bathtub showing off her growing baby bump, while her fiancé sat nearby as she sang and played her guitar.

The beauty captioned the post with, “Remember if I serenade @stevekazee every night the baby will get his voice??”

Social media users flocked to the comments section to share their congratulations on the happy baby news, like Steve, who typed, “With you I would have a million babies!”

Jennifer Love Hewitt wrote: ‘Yay!!! Congratulations!!!’ while Michelle Monaghan added: ‘Omgggg you guys!!!!!’

While also speaking to Romper for the January 2024 issue, she revealed that both she and Steve have chosen not to find out the gender of their second baby. The dancer also stated that their second child will be her last pregnancy.

“You don’t race to the end because this is the last time. So there’s a little bit of joy and a little bit of sadness. I really try to enjoy everything and not just get through the days,” the actress explained.

Dewan later recounted seeing Kazee with a “little baby” again, saying, “He’s naturally homely and caring, and he’s so loving, and he’s funny, and he’s really… he’s just incredible.” ‘

“It’s one of those things where people just have a natural ability to parent. I’m so excited to see him again with a little baby.”

Jenna also discussed working on set while pregnant, explaining, “It helps balance my mind.”

“And The Rookie really is the most dreamy, incredible track. Everyone is so nice. It’s really fun, it’s easy and it flows, and I think that’s a big part of why I can get pregnant so easily.”

‘I’ve been on other sets that are obviously a lot more difficult. So I love it. You are tired, but when is a mother not tired?’ the star added.

Dewan glowed effortlessly in her recent Romper feature, showing off her growing baby bump in a figure-hugging, sheer black dress that fell past her ankles.

Her dark locks were parted in the middle and flowed down her shoulders in elegant waves.

She also wore a fitted black ensemble with a white bodice and cutouts on the sides.

A cream coat was draped around her elbows as she struck several stylish poses on set.

The beauty also cradled her bump in a white shirt dress with corset-style detailing on the side. To complete the look, the dancer also donned a pair of over-the-knee black leather boots.

Jenna was also seen donning an off-white, sleeveless cropped top and loose-fitting pants, as she opted for a comfortable ensemble during the photoshoot.
