Jenna Coleman didn't let an outdoor runway get in the way of her style on Thursday as she pulled out all the fashion stops for Chanel's Metiers d'Art show.

With a huge catwalk built across Thomas Street and High Street in Manchester, a host of stars stood out in the cold for a few chilly hours to see the fashion giant's latest collection, designed by creative director Virginie Viard.

Jenna, 37, looked effortlessly chic in a gold tweed coat from the designer. It hugged the actress with a belt at the waist and had black lapels.

The actress complemented the look with black strappy heels and earrings.

Luckily for Jenna, she sat next to an outdoor heater before the models took to the catwalk.

Jenna was joined by a host of stars, including Lucy Boynton and Kristen Stewart. After the outdoor show, guests are taken to Victoria Baths for the after party.

In recent years, regular guests at the Metiers d'Art have included Pharrell Williams, Lily-Rose Depp and Kristen Stewart, who was recently eliminated in Manchester.

The council has announced that a number of roads, including the main street between Copperas Street and Nicholas Croft, will be closed throughout the afternoon and most of the night 'for an event in the Northern Quarter'.

A street in the city's northern quarter was cordoned off for the international catwalk and was closed for about a month ahead of the show.

The location and details of the Métiers d'Art catwalk were kept closely guarded, but dozens of boxes with the show's name on them were seen in the same area earlier this month, according to local media.

Companies in the immediate area signed non-disclosure agreements to avoid talking about the event. Manchester Evening News reports.

One entrepreneur says that he will have to close his doors on December 6 and 7, but that he will receive compensation for this. “It must have cost them a fortune,” they added.

The Chanel show, which has previously been held in fashion capitals such as London and Paris, will be held in Manchester this year due to its cultural ties.

The Chanel website describes the northwest city as “one of pop culture's most vibrant cities and an avant-garde city, where bands, spanning all genres, have changed music history.”

Previous events have taken place in cities such as Paris and Rome, but last year's edition took place in Dakar, Senegal.

Gabrielle Chanel fashion exhibition in September. Fashion Manifesto – dedicated to the designer who founded the luxury fashion house – opened at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

In the past, Chanel has chosen other British cities for its collections, including Linlithgow Palace near Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2012.

A film of the show is expected to be released at 9am GMT on Friday.
