Jenna Bush Hager reveals her husband Henry thought she was going strip down to her BRA to perform new Christmas song with Hoda Kotb live on TV – as she warns festive queen Mariah Carey the pair is determined to score number one spot on holiday charts

Jenna Bush Hager has revealed her husband Henry mistakenly thought she would be singing her new Christmas song live on television for the first time with her bra fully visible.

The Today show host, 42, delighted audiences across the country on Wednesday morning when she and her co-star Hoda Kotb, 59, performed their holiday single, Carefree Christmas, at Rockefeller Plaza.

Both Jenna and Hoda got into the festive party spirit and dazzled in black sequined playsuits, complete with feather-embellished blazers, while they were joined by viral singing coach Cheryl Porter, 51, and the Manhattan School of Music.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, Jenna swooned over her sparkling ensemble while also revealing her husband's fears.

She said: 'There's actually a sparkly bra underneath – and at first Henry thought I was wearing it open and I said 'no honey, no honey'.

“Maybe we think we're Mariah [Carey]but we're not!'

Jenna met her husband in 2004 while he was working on her father's presidential campaign. They have been married for 15 years.

She previously admitted on the Today show that she proposed to him after just three months of dating, but he turned her down because she was too young.

The couple, who share three children, daughters Mila, 10, and Poppy, eight, and son Hal, four, married in 2008 at the Bush ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Jenna and Hoda's energetic and festive performance of Carefree Christmas had the audience cheering with joy – and the pair admitted they had a blast.

“When I went in I was a little tense, but when the music started we felt the flow and it was fun!” Hoda enthused to DailyMail.com.

Jenna added, “The other thing is it's fun to do things that make you nervous!”

When asked if they were hoping for a Christmas number one, Jenna exclaimed: “Yes, we are!”

Hoda added: “We're going to fight our way in there because we're determined.

'And we have to say, we were just ahead of Mariah Carey on iTunes – and Cher! It lasted seven seconds. We have proof!'

Mariah is in contention with her 1994 hit All I Want for Christmas Is You, while Cher is hoping for number one with her new single, DJ Play a Christmas Song.

As for their foray into the music industry, it seems Carefree Christmas is just the tip of the iceberg.

“I think we should put out a whole album next Christmas,” Jenna suggested.

Hoda teased, “This is just the beginning. When you have Cheryl, the sky is the limit.

“We actually have a secret plan that we're already thinking about, but we can't really reveal it. You will see it.'

Jenna and Hoda first announced that they had recorded their own Christmas single during their talk show in November, where they praised their singing coach Cheryl.

“Cheryl is someone who can teach anyone to sing,” Hoda said at the time. 'She has her own technique.

“She's like joy personified and she tested us – made us try to learn.”

Jenna agreed, saying, “It'll sound good thanks to her.”
