Teen Mom alum Jenelle Evans has been an open book with fans about her life as a young mom, the custody battle she’s faced, and the lengthy physical pain she endured while trying to raise her family.
Jenelle has been open with fans for years about the various health battles she’s faced, and over the weekend revealed the latest issue she’s been battling.
Evans, 31, revealed she was newly diagnosed after problems with her esophagus – thymic hyperplasia, an inflamed thymus gland.

JULY 2011 – ADMITTED FOR AN Ovarian Cyst
Evans was taken to hospital for an ovarian cyst after experiencing crippling abdominal pain.
The young mother took to her Twitter page and told fans she feared her appendix had burst.
“On the way to the hospital,” she wrote. “I think my appendix is about to rupture. Been crying since 2am.’
Hours later she was released and went straight home for some rest, accompanied by some painkillers.

SEPTEMBER 2012 – HURRYING TO SPACE FOR RUPTURED CYSTS
Evans was again rushed to the emergency room after suffering from ruptured cysts.
“Please send prayers my way. 🙁 all alone again in the hospital with no support for a ruptured cyst bursting inside me,” she posted on Twitter.
MARCH 2022 – JENELLE DIAGNOSED WITH FIBROMYALGIA
Evans revealed she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after years of “extremely severe tension headaches and body aches.”
While talking about her symptoms from the chronic, long-term illness, the Teen Mom 2 alum said she’s experienced pain for as long as she “can remember.”
“Like I had the flu but wasn’t sick,” Jenelle explained E! Newsbefore noting that she also endures sinus problems and neck and back pain.
According to the Mayo Clinicthe condition is “characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain associated with fatigue, sleep, memory and mood problems.”
The mother-of-three continued, “My whole body gets so sore and sometimes I lay in bed and cry. [For] for a long time no one believed my symptoms until I recently got a second opinion from a new neurologist.”
Navigating fibromyalgia, she said, makes “every day” a challenge because then she only has “a little bit of energy to get my work done.” [having] going to bed early because of a headache or body aches.”
“I want my kids to know that some days are good and some days are bad with fibromyalgia,” Eason said. “Please bear with me on my bad days and I promise to make amends on my good days.”

MARCH 2022 – JENELLE HURRY TO THE HOSPITAL
A few days after her fibromyalgia diagnosis, Jenelle was rushed to the hospital due to chest pains.
She was afraid she was suffering from an autoimmune disease.
“Stayed in the hospital all day yesterday because of chest pain [crying emoji],” the star wrote on Instagram with a blurry photo of pink flowers.
“Please just send prayers,” she added. ‘Thank you! I’ll explain later, too much to type.’
The Teen Mom 2 star expanded on her condition in another Instagram post, according to Page six.
“There are new blood test results for me… I have 2 of the anti-acetylcholine receptor antibodies: blocking and binding in my system. Usually found in myasthenia gravis,” Evans revealed.
Myasthenia gravis is “a chronic autoimmune disease in which antibodies destroy communication between nerves and muscles, resulting in skeletal muscle weakness,” according to Johns Hopkins Drug.
The disease is common in women in their twenties and thirties and in men after their fifties. There is no known cure for the condition.

APRIL 2023 – JENELLE IS UNDERGOING Swallowing Proceedings
Jenelle underwent a procedure on her esophagus and has been candid with fans about the emotional turmoil surrounding the surgery.
“I’m only going today to have surgery done on my esophagus,” Evans posted on social media. “Have no support, so all prayers are appreciated.”
She put on a brave face and admitted that she was struggling after the medical procedure.
“I’m about to fall into the deep end,” she lip synced to prerecorded audio. “I know I’m smiling now, but the light in me is dying.”

MAY 2023 – JENELLE GETS A DIAGNOSIS
Several weeks after her surgery, Jenelle revealed that she had been diagnosed with thymic hyperplasia and lesions on her liver.
“#HealthUpdate I have found out that I have thymus hyperplasia and lesions on my liver, and no, I don’t have MG as they thought,” she posted on her Instagram Stories.
“I’ll be discussing these results with my doctor next week and next steps,” she added, along with a stunned emoji and a heart.
According to PennMedicine.org, Thymic hyperplasia is a condition where the thymus gland is inflamed. This is a benign condition and can be associated with a number of other medical conditions, such as thyroid abnormalities.’
The diagnosis came after Jenelle described how she searched for the source of her pain.
