Lauren Sanchez stepped out with fiancé Jeff Bezos at a party ahead of the annual Met Gala, where she rocked a skimpy black number in the wake of Anna Wintour’s reported criticism of her fashion sense.
Sanchez, 54, and Bezos, 60, attended the Monse Maison Pre-Met Cocktail Celebration at La Mercerie in New York City on Sunday evening.
She wore a striking black, sheer, figure-hugging dress that seemed to thumb her nose at Wintour, who is said not to be fond of the type of ensembles she typically wears.
The couple stopped briefly for photos with fashion designer Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, the creative director of Oscar de la Renta.
The fiancée of the multi-billionaire founder of Amazon has also come under fire from other famous New York society types such as salty restauranteur Keith McNally.

DailyMail.com reported last week that Wintour has decreed that the soon-to-be Mrs. Bezos can only get $75,000 and $350,000 per table ball if Wintour has a say in what she wears.
An insider recently told Wintour’s biographer Amy Odell that the famously demanding editor knows Sanchez has “bad taste” and would like to personally help her choose a dress.
Sanchez is infamous for wearing the kind of ensembles that leave little of her gym-toned, surgically enhanced features to the imagination.
“Anna is not always personally involved in what guests wear,” Odell wrote, adding that she worked with Sanchez to choose between custom designs from the classically stylish Oscar de la Renta and two other as-yet-unnamed designers.
Perhaps the photo of Sanchez with Oscar de la Renta creative director Kim was a nod to Wintour’s wishes.
Considering that celebrities often wore wild outfits to the Met Gala, Wintour’s rumors amount to a resounding statement of no confidence.
Wintour is apparently not alone in her criticism of the way Sanchez dresses, as presenter Megyn Kelly recently said she ‘looked like a whore’ in Milan and continues to be victimized by Keith McNally.
On Sunday, New York’s best-known restaurateur, McNally, took to Instagram to issue a half-hearted apology, dragging down those who criticized him for recently commenting on Sanchez’s appearance after they called her “absolutely repulsive.”
“Of course it’s wrong to criticize someone you don’t know – sorry Hitler – especially if he or she is as healthy and natural as Sánchez looks in the photo above,” said McNally.

“Apologies for my April 15 post in which – because I was Stone Cold Sober – I called the helicopter-flying beauty ‘repulsive in appearance.’

In his April 15 post, McNally, seemingly unprovoked, posted a series of photos of the couple with the caption: “Does anyone else find Jeff Bezos’ new wife – Lauren Sanchez – ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING?”

On Sunday, McNally called out people who spoke in Sanchez’s defense, including her famous friends.
“While 90 percent of the 3,000 comments I received on my Sanchez post were light-hearted and funny — and along the lines of the post — the comments I received from the wives of other billionaires were not funny and weird,” McNally said.
“The Unfunniest was by the wife of comedian Jerry Seinfeld (whom I adore) – Jessica Seinfeld. Seinfeld must have been embarrassed by her comment because she quickly deleted it.”

Since her affair with Bezos came to light in 2019, she has dipped her toes into philanthropy.
In March, she became vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund, which funds research into bioproduction and climate change.
The couple also established a $100 million Courage and Civility Award for people who serve the community. Winners so far include Dolly Parton and actress Eva Longoria.
They made their first public appearance together in May 2019 and four years later, they got engaged in May 2023.
In an interview in the November issue of Vogue, the bride-to-be spoke candidly about the moment Bezos asked her to marry him.
She recalled how he popped the question on his yacht after they enjoyed a romantic dinner together under the stars.
Bezos hid the pink diamond engagement ring under her pillow and she admitted she almost blacked out when she saw it.
Sanchez said they were in the early stages of planning their wedding, noting that at the time she was more focused on the billionaire’s 60th birthday party.
