Senator JD Vance slammed the media for continuing to portray Vice President Kamala Harris in a positive light, while she avoids the press and sticks to her scheduled activities.
It has been 24 days since Harris launched her presidential campaign and she has still refused to appear for an interview, nor has she given a press conference or responded to an interview since becoming the de facto Democratic presidential nominee.
At a rally in Michigan’s Byron Center on Wednesday, Donald Trump’s new running mate and attack dog slammed Harris, claiming her “fake news” allies were trying to paint her as Abraham Lincoln.
And to further increase the pressure on the current vice president, he accused Harris of pulling strings behind the scenes and claimed that her presidency would only prolong the actions of the Biden administration.
“Now that we’re talking about Kamala Harris — we have some of our friends in the media. I just can’t get over how unfair the American media is about Kamala Harris — isn’t that the craziest thing,” Vance said during his roughly 26-minute speech.

“Democratic leaders across the country — they said things and the American media confirmed that President Biden is sharper than ever, sharper than a knife. Remember that?” the Ohio senator added.
“And the American media for three and a half years pretended that this man was Albert Einstein and now they want to tell us that Kamala Harris is the second coming of Abraham Lincoln,” he said. “We don’t believe it, we don’t believe it.”
Vance visited the Cordes hardware store and spoke to a few hundred supporters after a quick meet and greet in a warehouse filled with antique cars and memorabilia. He wrapped up the day trip with a stop at the Grand Rapids Downtown Market, where he bought a branzino, shared ice cream with his wife and stopped at a bubble tea stand, talking to Michigan voters along the way.
During his speech, Vance said Harris cannot promise to change the administration she has helped build for the past three and a half years, stressing that she is the only one calling the shots as the 81-year-old Biden’s cognitive decline continues.
“Everything about her campaign is fake,” Vance charged. “A fake joy that comes from being promoted to a new position instead of using a position that you already have to do your job and improve the lives of the citizens of this country.”
“It’s a sham ticket that never got a single Democratic primary vote,” he said. “It’s a sham platform that doesn’t offer specific information about how to run the people’s business.”
‘And a false promise to change the government, when she has been at the head of that same government for almost four years and still hasn’t done a damn thing.’
At the end of his speech on Wednesday, Vance did something unique for a political rally: He decided to hold a live press conference for his own supporters and Trump’s.

Vance answered questions from the media for the rally attendees, saying, “If you want to be the vice president of the American people, you have to answer their questions and try to earn their votes. It’s really that simple.”
When asked during the impromptu press moment about the tactic of communicating more openly with the media, the Republican vice presidential candidate said he wants all Americans to realize the importance of openly answering difficult questions during elections.
“It’s a message to everybody that if you want to be vice president of the American people, you have to answer their questions and try to earn their votes. It’s really that simple,” Vance responded to cheers.
“You have to stand in front of the American people and answer the tough questions if you want to do this job,” he continued. “And it’s outrageous that Kamala Harris is running from the media — but more importantly, she’s running from the American people. That’s outrageous.”
“I have never in the history of my life seen a presidential campaign where someone is running to be president of the United States and is afraid of you,” Vance added, gesturing to the media packed to the front of the stage at Byron Center in Michigan on Wednesday afternoon.
“Look, I would say some of you are fine journalists,” the Republican senator continued. “Some of you, excuse me, are fake news. But no matter what your background in journalism is, if you can’t answer questions from the media, do you think you can take on Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping?”
“If you’re afraid to answer to the American people, how can we trust you to sit in a room with world leaders and represent the American people?”
