Jaylen Brown hints he could LEAVE Boston Celtics after Miami Heat Game 7 defeat

Jaylen Brown refused to rule out leaving the Celtics after their Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat on Monday night.

Brown and the Celtics had a chance at history as they entered the game fighting back from 3-0 to tie the series 3-3, with Game 7 in Boston.

And yet they still couldn’t get it done.

Brown, 26, was asked about his future in Boston in the aftermath of the game and did not confirm he would stay.

“I expected to win tonight and move on,” he said, commenting on whether he has thought about his future.

“My focus was on that and my focus has been on that. We failed, I failed, and it’s hard to focus on anything else right now. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.’

Brown led the Celtics with 19 points, but his team was emphatically beaten 103-84 by Miami.

The 26-year-old Brown’s comments are especially striking considering he’s up for a five-year, $295 million contract after being named to an All-NBA team earlier in May.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla, meanwhile, praised his team’s spirit after fighting back from 3-0 to Game 7 against Miami.

“It’s one of the best dressing rooms I’ve been a part of,” said Mazzulla. “Guys cared. They gave everything they had.

“That’s the most important thing to take out of this. It is clear that we have not reached our goal. We didn’t win, that was our goal. So we failed in that respect, but it’s not because the guys didn’t have a sense of togetherness, character and just who they are as people.

“They need to know – when we were 3-0 down, was it about how we want to be defined?

“I felt they showed a lot of character by even getting to this point.”
