Jay Z’s attorney Alex Spiro has insisted the rapper “knows nothing” about the charges or accusations against Sean “Diddy” Combs, claiming the billionaire musicians shared no “closer bond” than professional friends.
Last week, the 55-year-old rapper – real name Shawn Carter – was named in a civil lawsuit accusing him of raping a 13-year-old along with Combs in 2000 after the MTV Video Music Awards.
Rapper Empire State Of Mind has since condemned and vehemently denied the allegations, while criticizing her lawyer Tony Buzbee for the alleged ‘attempted blackmail’.
Speaking at Roc Nation headquarters in New York, Carter’s attorney took pains to clarify that his client was not connected to the sex trafficking and racketeering charges for which Combs will stand trial.
‘Sir. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case or with Mr. Combs,” the attorney for Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP began. ‘They had known each other professionally for a number of years, just like in all professions, people know each other.’
He continued: “At the Music Awards they support each other. When you go to the NBA All Star game, they support each other. That’s just how professions work.’

Spiro added: “There is no closer relationship between any of them, that is also a matter of fiction. That’s all there is to it.
“He knows nothing about the charges or accusations against him. He has nothing to do with that case. And there’s nothing left to say.’
The accuser, who identifies herself as Jane Doe in legal documents reviewed by Ny Breaking.commade headlines with her claim that the attack took place at a post-awards party.
According to legal documents, during the 2000 incident, “another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor.”
The 38-year-old woman, who has remained anonymous until now, then sat down at the table NBC News on Friday, where she acknowledged several inconsistencies in the lawsuit initially filed a few months earlier in October.
Regarding her memory of the night the alleged “catastrophic event” occurred, she told the news station that she “made some mistakes.”
Some of the inconsistencies include Jane Doe claiming that her father came to pick her up after the alleged rape occurred. However, he has since stated that he has no memory of this.
She also claimed to have spoken to Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden, but the band has since said he was not in New York that night because the band was on tour in the Midwest at the time.

Attorneys for Carter have since asked for the case to be dismissed or for Jane Doe’s real name to be publicly revealed in new motions filed in federal court.
Speaking to DailyMail.com and other press on Monday, Spiro claimed the case is “demonstrably demonstrably false” and went on to provide evidence that he said showed Jane Doe’s allegations “never happened.”
First, he highlighted the “large white home with an enclosed U-shaped driveway” that Jane Doe reportedly drove to during a 20-minute drive from Radio City Music Hall.
“There is no such location,” Spiro noted. “We don’t know if they created a venue to get jurisdiction in New York so they could bring this case to New York, or if they just didn’t do their homework.”
He also stated that the homes Combs owned at the time of the alleged assault did not match the description shared by Jane Doe.
Spiro then pointed out that footage of Combs and Carter from the night of the alleged attack placed the pair at official industry after-parties — which took place at commercial locations.
The attorney also noted that Jane Doe claimed to have watched the awards ceremony from a jumbotron outside Radio City, but it has since been confirmed that there was no jumbotron at the show that year.
He accused Texas attorney Anthony Buzbee of taking advantage of the prosecutor, stating, “This is not for truth and justice. This is for money.”
Spiro confirmed that he expected Carter to be “exonerated” and noted that Buzbee is “being dealt with.”

He explained: “This issue of a lawyer taking advantage of the situation will be resolved, I can assure you… stay tuned. I think the first thing we had to do today is make sure that everyone understands that this is not a report of inconsistencies.
‘I wanted everyone to understand that this never happened. This is completely incorrect. And we’ll go from there.”
Speaking about how Carter felt after the shocking allegations, Spiro said of the rapper, “He’s upset. He is angry that someone would be allowed to do this, that he would make a system like this ridiculous. He is angry that this distracts and deters real victims from coming forward.
‘He is angry that his children and his family have to deal with this. He’s angry, and he should be angry.’
Carter is father to daughter Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, seven, with wife Beyoncé.
