Tough: The Repair Shop’s Jay Blades was in tears during Wednesday night’s episode of the show when a couple showed him the footprints of their dead baby boy
Married couple Emershay and Luke said: ‘This is David on one side and his footprint on the other, but as you can see it’s cracked on the footprints, but it’s also shrunk on the other side’
“This is David on one side and his footprint on the other, but as you can see it’s cracked on the footprints, but it’s also shrunk on the other side.
“David was our son and he died when he was five months old and we have the footprints in the hospital a few days before he died, so it’s really dear to us.”
Luke added, “David and Joshua, his brother is twins, they were born prematurely.”
His wife continued: ‘They were born at 26 weeks, three months early, and they even spent three months in the hospital in the neonatal ward.
‘So we actually only had him in the house for two months. And I remember worrying more and more about David because he wasn’t doing as well as he should.
“Of course I had his brother who was doing well so I took David to the emergency room and I was really worried and then he went into cardiac arrest.
“One day after we found out he had a very serious heart condition and unfortunately the doctors couldn’t do anything for him.”

Can it be fixed? The mold of their dead son’s footprints was sunken and cracked
Jay told conservator Kirsten, “I really don’t know how you’re going to do this, this seems really tricky,” before wishing her luck.
Emershay said doctors had been asking when to turn off his life support as she struggled to get her words out.
Hearing their words, Jay himself becomes emotional.
They asked the show’s Kirsten Ramsey if she could help with the footprints, to which she explained, “He’s a beautiful boy, I can tell.
It must break your heart to see it like this. It’s going to be really tough, but I’ll do everything I can to make it look the best I can.’
When the pair got out of range, Jay took off his hat and took a deep breath, struggling to control himself.
He told Kirsten, “I really don’t know how you’re going to do this, this seems really tricky,” before wishing her luck.
When the couple returned, they were thrilled with the results.
