Jax Taylor refiles for divorce from estranged wife Brittany Cartwright after hiring Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline’s attorney

Jax Taylor filed for divorce from his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright on Thursday.

The Valley star, 45, hired the attorney for Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline during their divorce proceedings.

Cartwright, 35, first filed for divorce in August.

Now the reality TV personality has responded with his own request for annulment of marriage, and according to court documents obtained by We weeklyTaylor named Mark Vincent Kaplan as his attorney.

This comes just after Cartwright called him out for mistakes he made in his divorce filing, without the help of legal advisers.

Last month he filed while representing himself and accidentally checked a box indicating he and Cartwright were never legally married.

The Vanderpump Rules alum also gave an inaccurate timeline of their relationship.

Unlike Cartwright, who listed their separation date as January 24, 2024, a month before they publicly shared the news, Taylor claimed they didn’t officially call it quits until September 26, 2024.

He also appeared to have incorrectly checked an ‘other’ box when it came to determining child support for their son Cruz.”

After fans expressed their confusion over Taylor’s mistakes and discrepancies, Cartwright took to social media to address the mistakes.

“We are legally married,” she wrote in a comment below one from E! News’ Instagram posts. “I guess paperwork is a pain for some people.”

Lance Bass, who officiated the former couple’s wedding in 2019, also confirmed that Cartwright and Taylor’s marriage was legally binding.

“Pastor Lance signed the papers,” he wrote.

Now, the reality TV personality has responded with his own filing for dissolution of marriage, and according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Taylor named Mark Vincent Kaplan as his attorney; pictured on April 27 in Washington, DC

Taylor’s rep made it clear to People that there were “mistakes.” [made by his client] will be amended without delay.’

“Jax and Brittany have long since resolved all matters regarding Cruz’s custody and will continue to work together privately for the best interests of their son, which remains their top concern,” his rep added.

“Although Jax made errors in completing forms normally done by trained legal professionals, these errors will be corrected without delay.”

Taylor’s new attorney representing him in his divorce proceedings previously represented stars who, in addition to Federline, also captivated Charlie Sheen and Paula Abdul during his custody battle with Spears.

Federline was awarded full custody of his and Spears’ two sons in 2008: Preston, now 19, and Jayden, now 18.

Cartwright and Taylor are seemingly expected to have a less controversial custody arrangement, as they have both expressed their intentions to co-parent.

Last month, Cartwright said she wants the best for their son, and that includes having his father in his life.

‘I’m never going to take Cruz away again [Jax]she told People. “We will always put Cruz first and work toward a healthy co-parenting relationship.”

During an episode of their joint podcast, When Reality Hits, he said he wants to continue to be a “great” father to their son.

Taylor also said he will “always love and care for his ex.”

“She is the mother of my beautiful son,” he said. “All I want is for us to be friendly and even, hopefully, very, very good friends. One day.

He added, “I know I’ll be a great father and I know I’ll be an excellent ex-husband.”
