Jason Whitlock SLAMS Caitlin Clark’s ability – and explains why she’s struggling in the WNBA

Jason Whitlock posited a theory about why Caitlin Clark has struggled at times during her very young WNBA career.

In the wake of back-to-back losses, the controversial podcaster said he thinks the Indiana Fever star has made it “too easy” for competitors to defend her.

β€œShe’s 20 games into her WNBA career and Caitlin Clark is just too easy to defend,” he wrote on X on Sunday afternoon.

“She doesn’t take easy shots because she doesn’t chase them. I like her game. But constantly launching difficult 27-footers isn’t going to work.”

Many of Whitlock’s followers agreed with his sentiment, offering their own opinions on how the 22-year-old was adjusting to the league after a stellar college career.

“Caitlin Clark is doing a phenomenal job of giving her teammates easy looks, but her teammates don’t know how to help her get an easy shot. She will evolve, she definitely needs to be more aggressive with her attacks and attempts,” one fan tweeted.

“I think she’s exhausted from the long college season and then the crazy schedule of the WNBA,” another suggested.

A third pointed out that she ‘hasn’t looked good in the last few games’, adding: ‘I suspect the coach doesn’t see her motivated and attacking plan as disorganised.’

It came a few days after the superstar rookie made a stunning confession about her coach, Christie Sides.

After the Fever’s loss to Storm last week, the former Iowa player was asked what the best advice she’s received so far this season was.

The rookie indicated that she does not receive advice from the teams during games for the Fever

The rookie suggested she doesn’t get any advice from Sides while playing for the Fever

“Nobody gives me advice in the game. I wish,” she admitted.

Although she was specifically asked for advice from her teammates, her response led to Sides receiving heavy criticism on social media

“@fever Remind me again…Why is @ChristieSides the Head Coach again?” one person wrote.

β€œOh Christie sides, count your days,” said another.

Meanwhile, a third added: ‘The COACH could do that…’

Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, is enjoying a stellar rookie season after breaking a host of records in her historic college career.

Although she has been the center of much controversy surrounding her meteoric rise to fame, she is already living up to the hype on the court. She leads among rookies in points per game with 16.2.
