Jason Whitlock is skewered by sports fans after asking followers why X-rated ad popped up when he viewed NFL standings on ESPN: ‘It’s an algorithm ad based on your search history’
Self-described Christian sports media personality Jason Whitlock was trolled by fans on social media after wondering why he saw an X-rated ad on his computer while watching ESPN.
Whitlock posted a photo showing the NFL's standings next to the questionable ad.
“I check the NFL standings on espn.com. This is the ad that appears above the leaderboard. How is this possible? Appropriate?' Whitlock captioned the photo.
The ad that appeared on his screen appeared to be for “Funny Happy Birthday” cards for “him, husband, boyfriend,” along with other birthday gifts and decorations with X-rated messages on them.
Social media users were quick to point out that the ad appeared based on the user's search history.

'This is the funniest thing I've seen on this site in a long time. Someone explain how ads work now,” one user said.

“The call is coming from inside my brother,” another person commented.
Fans on X were quick to point out that the ad was based on Whitlock's browsing history
“This guy honestly thought he was tweeting some fire instead of expressing himself like a crazy person,” another person said in the comments.
Whitlock has come under fire for several controversial recordings during his time in sports media, most recently directing criticism at CBS over a decision to send their lead commentators to the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Cincinnati Bengals instead of the highly anticipated matchup between the Baltimore Ravens. and Miami Dolphins.
He claimed the decision was made due to Taylor Swift's presence at the Chiefs game, rather than prioritizing the much more meaningful matchup as the Ravens and Dolphins battled for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoff race .
