Jason Whitlock calls Brittany Mahomes ‘one of my favorite people’ after ‘liking’ Donald Trump post – and credits husband Patrick for the ‘smart play’

Brittany Mahomes hit the “like” button on an Instagram post endorsing presidential candidate Donald Trump last week, prompting her to be alternately vilified and idolized for her actions in the days that followed.

On Tuesday, it was conservative politician and sports podcaster Jason Whitlock who weighed in, saying that the wife of Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes is now one of his “favorite people associated with the NFL.”

“Brittany Mahomes, I have to admit, is my favorite football fan and my favorite football wife,” Whitlock said.

Not everyone was so positive about Brittany. She only liked one post that laid out a 20-point platform, from border control and ending the electric vehicle mandate to Trump’s hopes for “new and record-high successes.”

“Why is anyone surprised that a family with a net worth of over $100 million supports a president who only serves the ultra-rich?” wrote one person on X, echoing the complaint of other Trump critics.

Whitlock not only praised Brittany for her support of his favorite candidate, Trump, but also praised the pregnant mother of two for her response to the criticism.

“And now she’s being criticized for liking an Instagram post supporting Donald Trump, and then she took it a step further and actually commented on it,” he continued, before reading Brittany’s response.

“To be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep rooted issues that you refuse to heal from your childhood,” Brittany wrote to her online critics, read by Whitlock. “There is no reason why your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others do well.”

Whitlock admitted she found Brittany annoying before liking the pro-Trump post.

But after Brittany clicked the heart on Instagram, she is now in Whitlock’s favor.

“She went from being a nasty wife to one of my favorite people in the NFL,” he said.

“I think it’s a smart move too,” Whitlock continued, crediting Brittany’s husband and others.

“I think some people, someone has told these athletes that all this fake, woke stuff doesn’t make you popular and that you actually want to be a bit of a rebel.

“I don’t think she’s doing this without Patrick knowing about it, being aware of it and being okay with it. I think it’s a great look.”

Whitlock, a former Kansas City Star reporter who was briefly suspended in 1998 for booing Chiefs fans, hasn’t always been Brittany Mahomes’ biggest supporter, describing her in April as “not the most polished person.”

But on Tuesday, Whitlock made no mistake: he likes Brittany and approves of her marriage to Patrick.

“I’ve been leaning that way for a while, I said it a couple months ago, I said I kind of like the fact that Patrick doesn’t go anywhere without his wife,” said Whitlock, a 57-year-old single man and relationship expert. “He’s really crazy about his wife, and I respect that.

“People thought I was calling her less than ideal or less than attractive,” he continued, referring to his April comment.

“But she’s an attractive woman. He clearly loves this woman, he’s not going anywhere without her. He’s not the kind of guy who came to the NFL and ditched his high school or college girlfriend and traded her in for a supermodel. It’s, like, real.”
