Jason Roy snaps his 12th hundredth one-day international to put England on top… as Jos Buttler’s men look to wrap up a series win in Bangladesh with one game to play.

  • Jason Roy scored 132 of 124 balls to put England in a strong position
  • Jos Buttler also impressed when he hit 76 of 64 balls for the visitors.
  • Bangladesh will now have to chase down 327 to keep the series alive

Jason Roy enjoyed a welcome return to form as he hit his twelfth century one day international to put England in a commanding position in their second over 50 match in Bangladesh.

Roy was dismissed in the first over of Wednesday’s opening match, and has struggled for runs in recent months, but produced a commanding performance with the bat as he smashed 132 of 124 balls to help England to 326 of seven of their 50 overs.

His opening partner Phil Salt went down for just seven, and Wednesday’s match winner Dawid Malan could only make 11 this time before being sacked lbw.

James Vince also went for individual figures, but Roy built an impressive partnership with captain Jos Buttler to put England on top.

Roy raised his hundred with a measured jerk and then went on the attack to push his strike rate above 100, before being pinned in front of all three stumps by Shakib Al Hasan.

Buttler then took over, moving to a career half-century and hitting straight six before he was caught and bowled for 76.

Moeen Ali contributed a useful 42 from 35 balls, while Sam Curran fired 33 from 19 balls to ensure England passed 300 and set up Bangladesh as an imposing target to go after.

If England defend their total, they will secure series victory with a game to spare.
