Jason Momoa accused of ‘mistreating’ crew on Minecraft film by YouTuber Valkyrae: ‘It was pretty disappointing’

Jason Momoa allegedly yelled at and mistreated the crew on the set of his film A Minecraft Movie, according to one of his costars in the upcoming film.

YouTube streamer Valkyrae, 32, appeared Friday in a Hot Ones-inspired segment opposite fellow YouTuber JasonTheWeenwhere she was asked about the worst celebrity experience she’s had.

Valkyrae, whose real name is Rachell Marie Hofstetter, replied, ‘So, Minecraft movie – I have a cameo in the Minecraft movie that’s coming out – I would have to say Jason Momoa.’

Valkyrae claims that she saw the 45-year-old actor, who plays the role of Garett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison in the movie, ‘mistreat some of the crew’ during production of the motion picture.

‘It was pretty disappointing,’ Valkyrae said. ‘It was after a very intense scene – and it was a very emotional scene – so maybe he was still in character, I don’t know. I was just surprised about how he treated some of the crew.’

The Aquaman leading man ‘was just really mad at them that they weren’t doing anything right in setting up the shot and stuff,’ Valkyrae said in the interview, adding Momoa ‘was just angry, really mad, and yelling.’

Valkyrae said the Honolulu-born star’s conduct made for a toxic workspace.

‘I was like man, this is not a good working environment, I would not be happy working under these conditions, Valkyrae said. ‘I would have to say that was the worst celebrity thing I’ve seen.’

A number of Twitter users appeared to give Momoa the benefit of the doubt in their reactions to the segment.

‘Valkyrae should understand at times one can have a bad day in the office,’ said one user. ‘You can’t [condemn] or pass judgment based on that day.

‘Have we seen any of his staff or crew member coming up complaining of mistreatment? Let’s be factual at times..’

Another said, ‘She saw one moment of frustration and called it a bad working environment.’

Said one user: ‘Not the Minecraft movie having a toxic working environment.’

One user said that Valkyrae’s public condemnation of Momoa was not an astute career move on her behalf.

‘She’s barely in the movie industry and she’s already talking drama with one of the biggest stars … they definitely not calling her back to a set after this,’ the user said.

Another said that Valkyrae, with her background as a streaming personality, did not understand the pressure on Momoa as the face of the high-profile film.

‘I mean honestly Jason has a stressful job, Valkyrae wouldn’t understand as she sits on a chair all day streaming,’ the user said.

One user joked, ‘I’d be mad if I had to be in this movie too.’

Stars joining Momoa in the cast of the motion picture, directed by Jared Hess, include Jack Black, Jennifer Coolidge, Sebastian Hansen, Emma Myers and Danielle Brooks.
