A longtime friend of Jason Kelce has revealed that the NFL star is leaving $50,000 worth of bounced checks in his Philadelphia apartment as he heads out the early days of his Eagles career, with the center leaving at age 36 with retires.

Alex Hoffman — an offensive linesman for the Cincinnati Bearcats from 2007-2011 — first described Kelce as a “good guitarist” and singer who could “pick up songs by ear and play them” in a tell-all account of the 2018 Super Bowl Championship Student Days .

The pair were teammates in Cincy for three seasons from 2007 to 2010 before going their separate ways, with Kelce being drafted by the Eagles as the sixth round (No. 191 overall) in the 2011 NFL draft.

However, that didn’t matter as the pair have since kept in touch over the years.

“My wife and I (once) went to stay at Jason’s penthouse in Philly,” Hoffman recalled. The Athletics. “This was before he met Kylie. My wife and I were sleeping on his couch and he only had undeposited paychecks lying around. About $50,000 between a couple of checks, and he said, “Um, I haven’t gotten around it yet.”

“That just defines Jason. It’s not about the money for him.’

After Monday night’s wild-card loss to the Eagles, Kelce, Philly’s centerpiece and seven-time Pro Bowl selectee, has all but officially called it quits after 13 seasons.

Kelce confidentially told teammates after the first-round playoff loss that he has no plans to come back. He danced around the topic during Wednesday’s edition of the “New Heights” podcast that he co-hosts with his younger brother and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Kelce also shut down pension talks at the Eagles complex all week.

“Before we get started, I’m not going to get into pension questions today,” Kelce said. “But I will answer any questions about the end of the season and football matters that I think people are entitled to.”

On that note, Kelce said the “big turning point” of the season was Philly’s loss to San Francisco. The Eagles were 10-1 before being defeated by the 49ers at home by 23 points in an NFC Championship rematch. Dallas beat the Eagles by 20 points the next week, and the losses — and finger-pointing — snowballed from there.

Like his teammates, Kelce stood up for Sirianni as the Eagles’ head coach job is in jeopardy.

Kelce has at least one more game left – or at least one NFL event. He’s going to the Pro Bowl, which has turned into a skills competition in Orlando, Florida. He wants to take his family to Disney World. He wants to see his brother in the playoffs.

And then? Maybe by the end of the Super Bowl, Kelce will be officially retired.

“It’s hard to give up,” Kelce said, before catching himself, “I’m imagining it.”
