Jason Kelce sheds light on early days of brother Travis’ romance with Taylor Swift and reveals how the Chiefs star broke the news

Jason Kelce has revealed that Travis was cautious about telling him he was dating Taylor Swift in the early days of their relationship.

Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship last September when the singer showed up at his VIP suite at Arrowhead Stadium to watch him play for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Chicago Bears.

But leading up to the conversation, his older brother Jason said he didn’t know much more than what Travis told them on their New Heights podcast about inviting her to a Chiefs game.

On the Pivot podcast, he said: ‘There was a build-up to it, there was a whole discussion in the podcast about how he wanted to give her a friendship bracelet, so I knew there was something there.

“But I think he was very cautious about telling me or anyone else because the reality is she’s under a microscope.

Jason Kelce has opened up about brother Travis’ early days in a relationship with Taylor Swift

Kelce and Swift went public nearly a year ago in a story that dominated the NFL last season

“I think they wanted to make sure that everything was done in a way that respected people’s privacy. And I think they’re still trying to do that.

‘Even now, I still want to have respect for them and I don’t want anyone to feel like I’m violating a private relationship.

“It’s really not my place to talk about their relationship, but he’s my brother and I’m very happy for him. You just have to be aware of how you say things because it’s under such a magnifying glass.”

It’s been almost a year since they went public – Swift watched Kelce and the Chiefs beat the Bears on September 24th of last year and watched 13 games in which Kelce and Kansas City won their second straight Super Bowl.

Swift is expected to be back at Arrowhead on Thursday as the Chiefs open their season against the Baltimore Ravens.

Kelce and teammate Patrick Mahomes lead a historic offense for the Chiefs, who are aiming for an unprecedented three-peat in the NFL.

Jason, meanwhile, made the transition from player to analyst after retiring in the offseason after 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He joined ESPN to cover games this season, but he will have to wait until Week 5 before he can cover a Monday Night Football game that his brother is covering.

The Chiefs host the New Orleans Saints that day and will be back in action on Monday night in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
