Jason Kelce has defended “fetching” with his daughters during Eagles training camp – sparking some criticism from fans online.

The Eagles shared a video on social media last month of Kelce laying on his back and throwing a soccer ball for his daughters Wyatt, 3, and Elliotte, 2, to pick him up.

And as the center’s wife, Kylie, said afterwards, “People in these comments say, ‘He plays fetch with his kids like they’re dogs!’

“Tell them you don’t have toddlers. If you listen, you can hear him count. So technically they are racing.’

Now Kelce has shared his side of the story on ‘New heights,” the podcast he shares with brother and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Jason Kelce was seen playing fetch with his young daughters earlier this summer

“The biggest controversy from Eagles training camp, Jason: You were officially ashamed of your dad,” Travis said on the podcast.

‘You son of a buck. Why should you play fetch with your children? They’re not animals, Jason.’

Jason explained that he was just tired – and his daughters had a lot of energy to let go.

“After training I’m not going to lie, there isn’t much juice left. All they want is to run around and play, so I have to figure out something to get them running,” he said. “That day it was ‘go get the ball.’

“They’re not very good at catching footballs,” he added when Travis asked if a game of catch was out of the question.

“All they want is to flee.”

As for the claim that Travis treated his daughters like “dogs,” he said, “I just want you to know that sometimes Ellie really thinks she’s a dog, and she literally puts hugs in my mouth.”

Jason and Kylie also have a six-month-old named Bennett Llewellyn.

Jason and the Eagles begin their season next Sunday with the Patriots, while Travis and the Chiefs will host the Lions on Thursday.
