Travis Kelce and his brother Jason are hoping Taylor Swift makes even more history tonight at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Swift tops the list of nominations at this year’s VMAs with 12 votes; eight for her “Fortnight” music video, two social categories, and nominations in the best pop and artist of the year categories.
And if she wins eight, the pop star will surpass Beyoncé’s record of 30 awards and become the most successful artist in VMA history.
It is not yet clear whether Taylor will attend the show at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York. If she wins, she will have a prominent platform to renew her support for Kamala Harris’ presidential bid, after she endorsed her on Tuesday night.
As she looks to add even more accolades to her collection tonight, her boyfriend Kelce and his older brother Jason Swift are supporting her in achieving that goal.
Travis Kelce and brother Jason hope Taylor Swift makes more history at the VMAs
The Kelce brothers showed their support for Swift ahead of tonight’s ceremony on Long Island
On their New Heights PodcastTravis said of the VMAs: ‘Hopefully Taylor can win a few, she’s nominated for about 10 of those things tonight.
‘Hopefully she can leave with some Moonmen [VMA trophies].
After his brother wished everyone good luck at the ceremony on Long Island, Jason joked, “Unless you’re running against Tay, I hope you lose.”
Swift is preparing for the VMAs after spending the weekend in New York with Kelce and his good friends Patrick and Brittany Mahomes.
Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ win over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, the singer and her husband flew to New York and were spotted at Brooklyn’s iconic Lucali pizzeria on Friday.
The next day they attended a wedding together, then on Sunday they went to the US Open tennis finals with Patrick and Brittany.
However, Taylor and Travis received a lot of criticism online after a video went viral of the couple singing The Darkness’ iconic 2000s rock song “I Believe In a Thing Called Love” in the stands.
The pop megastar will become the most successful artist in VMA history if she wins eight of the 12 awards for which she is nominated.
If she attends the ceremony on Long Island, Swift could use the platform to redouble her support for Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election.
Brittany, who recently caused a stir by liking one of Donald Trump’s Instagram posts, appeared to cringe as she asked Patrick, “Do you know this song?”
Swift’s endorsement of Democratic candidate Harris on Tuesday comes after her best friend Mahomes threw her support behind Republican frontrunner Trump last month, a move many feared could damage their friendship.
More than 3.2 million people liked Taylor’s Instagram post in just over an hour after she confirmed: ‘“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election.”
She explained that the vice president “fights for rights and causes that I think need a warrior who can defend them.”
Swift added: ‘I think she’s a steady, talented leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we’re led by calm and not chaos.
“I was so encouraged and impressed by her choice of running mate (Walz), who has been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s right to their own bodies for decades. I did my research and made my choice.”
