The husband of a woman who tragically died in a freak accident spoke of his heartbreak after a tree crushed his car.

Jasmyne Lloyd, 20, died alongside her 80-year-old passenger after a large tree fell on their Volkswagen as she was driving along Old Gympie Road in the Glass House Mountains on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Queensland Police were called to the remote stretch of road at around 12:20pm on Saturday due to reports of a major traffic incident.

Lloyd took to Facebook on Sunday to reveal that he and Jasmyne were one day away from celebrating their four-month wedding anniversary when she was tragically murdered.

“There are no words to describe my anguish,” he said.

Mr. Lloyd’s Facebook profile photo is a photo of the beloved couple posing on the day he proposed to her: June 4, 2022.

“She said yes,” he captioned the photo, with Jasmyne’s diamond ring front and center in the image.

The emergency teams had to cut the roof of the vehicle because it was very sagging.

The Volkswagen was badly damaged after the tree fell on it.

A spokesperson for the Queensland Police Service told the Sunshine Coast Daily that the tree was dying and was rotting all over.

‘It’s incredibly unfortunate. The tree collapsed as they were passing by,” the officer said.

The police are investigating whether the poor condition of the tree or the action of an animal caused it to fall.

“Unfortunately, when that vehicle was going under, a couple of seconds in either direction, the vehicle would have been clear, hit the vehicle and then went off the road,” Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Stream said.

Located about 70 km north of Brisbane, the Glass House Mountains and its national park are famous for their scenic views and walking trails.

The terrain includes rocky peaks, steep slopes, ravines, marshy plains, and a wide variety of wildlife.
