Google accidentally leaked its upcoming AI agent, Jarvis AI, which will surf the web for you in Chrome.
According to The informationGoogle posted an internal preview of the product, codenamed Jarvis, to the Chrome Extension Store, but quickly removed the prototype before too many users noticed.
The listing said “a helpful companion who surfs the web with you.” which ties in with the October news that Google was developing Jarvis, the AI agent that would help you shop online and even book your next vacation.
Those who managed to download the Jarvis AI prototype before it was pulled from the Chrome extension store were unable to use it because the program required specific access permissions.
With The Information reporting that Google plans to officially unveil Jarvis in December, this leak confirms that we won’t have to wait long.
Jarvis AI is expected to allow users to automate web browsing tasks from Google Chrome, allowing them to focus on more important things while the AI agent shops for you or even books flights.
For example, think about how great this could be for everyday Christmas shopping. After all, nothing says “I love you” more than a gift purchased by AI.
AI agents, systems that can complete tasks without your supervision, are starting to appear more and more with companies like Anthropic, which last month released a product similar to Jarvis. It’s also reported that OpenAI may be working on an agent as well, although we’ve yet to see how that would differ from Google’s upcoming product.
AI development is booming and companies are releasing new tools almost every day. Last week, ChatGPT Search became available to Plus subscribers, ushering in a new era for AI search engines. With Jarvis AI, we may not even have to search ourselves.
