Jared Leto, 51, admits he has used drugs in the past, adding that they were “around” when he was growing up: “I took it for a ride and then I took it on the road”

Jared Leto discussed his past drug use while performing The Zane Lowe Show this week.

The 51-year-old musician and actor – who attended the Vogue World Fashion Week show – admitted presenting Zane: ‘I was always interested in drugs. I was always interested in an experience. I was interested in taking some risks, yes.

‘I grew up in an environment where drugs were in circulation. I mean, I knew what the smell of weed is even as a very, very young kid.”

He explained, “I remember as a young kid, really young kid, maybe, I don’t know, fourth grade or something, I was walking past some trees, like bushes or something. And say to the other kids, “Oh, someone’s smoking weed over there.” They say, “What do you mean? What is weed?” They didn’t know what that particular herb was. But for us it was very normal.’

‘Addiction is of course a completely different part of it. Using drugs is one thing, but are they also starting to bother you?’ he asked rhetorically.

The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman also said that at one point he ventured into selling drugs.

Regarding his curiosity about drug use, he noted, “I think this is probably common for people who like to experiment or explore.”

“I took it for a ride, and then I definitely had to take it for a ride,” the House of Gucci star added.

He then described a pivotal moment that gave him insight into his former lifestyle.

“I had a moment of clarity,” he reflected. ‘I had an epiphany. There were two paths I could take in life; I guess this is the only way I can describe it.

‘I followed that path. I’ve had very good friends who didn’t, and they’re no longer there. A lot of.’

It’s not the first time the rock star has opened up about his wild past.

In a 2016 interview with Rolling stoneJared revealed that he has done “a lot” of drugs.

“A lot of them were a lot of fun. There are only a few that tend to kick your *ss. I think at some point there will also be a decision: “Is this going to be my life?” I chose to pursue other dreams.”

Leto continued, “I think that’s the stupid thing about a lot of drugs: the opportunity cost is too high. S

“Some drugs are incredible, but the risk-reward ratio is inconsistent. I just saw too many examples of what not to do.’

Jared is currently promoting his band’s new album It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day, which is released on Friday.
